PSV still wants to strengthen itself with former FC Groningen player

In the pursuit of a new left-back, PSV still hopes to be able to strengthen itself with the 33-year-old Filip Kostic. The Eindhovens Dagblad reports on that.

Kostic is available as a free agent after his departure from Juventus and PSV hopes to take advantage of that free-agent status and bring the Serb to Eindhoven. For that, club management first needs to reach an agreement with agent Ceccarelli, as the ED reports.

Only once PSV is able to reach an agreement with the Italian agent can PSV get the Serbian player medically checked. Both parties are currently in full negotiations, and it is still a question of whether the club management will reach an agreement with the Serbian player’s agent.

Between 2012 and 2014, Kostic came to the Netherlands on behalf of FC Groningen, and through the Groningers the versatile footballer earned a transfer to VfB Stuttgart. Via HSV and Eintracht Frankfurt, the Serb ended up at Juventus in 2022.

Last week, transfer journalist Mounir Boualin shared the news that PSV would be interested in the former FC Groningen player. ''Multiple sources from Serbia tell SoccerNews that PSV also has Kostic on its radar'', Boualin wrote last week on the website of Socceernews.nl.

Now ED journalist and PSV watcher Rik Elfrink brings the news that the club management at PSV still hopes to be able to bring Kostic to Eindhoven. The Serb is known as a player who can cover the entire left flank and is therefore seen as an ideal successor to Anass Salah-Eddine.
