PSV’s star players report: ‘There will still be some transfers coming’
1 min readCompared to last year, it is still fairly quiet at PSV with regard to the transfer period. That is also what luminaries Willy and René van de Kerkhof see.
Where many PSV supporters express their unrest on the social media platform X particularly about the lack of transfer rumors, the Van de Kerkhof brothers remain fairly level-headed. This is what they say in the Willy & René PSV Podcast from Omroep Brabant.
''The transfer window is still open for weeks and there will still be some transfers coming in. But I don't believe anything about the idea that any starting players are going to leave,'' Willy says, full of conviction.
Thereby, the former PSV player in particular points to Joey Veerman and Sergino Dest, who both can leave for a fixed amount through a transfer clause in their contract. ''Dest and Veerman, I don't see them leaving this summer. If there had really been interest in them, they would have already left,'' Willy concludes.

Also brother René does not see a major exodus at PSV this summer, and it is also expected that the newly appointed captain Mauro Junior will stay now that Peter Bosz has given him the captain's armband. ''I think that's very good. A well-deserved reward for his performances in recent years. And maybe it will help keep him at PSV'', René believes.
Willy also discusses the aborted transfer of Armando Obispo to RC Lens, while Obispo had already said goodbye to his teammates at PSV earlier. ''I truly can’t make head or tail of that. How can you say goodbye when it’s not completely done yet? Yes, they thought it was done, but they were wrong about that,'' says the PSV icon.
After that, René continues with a similar kind of story about what he experienced as Obispo. ''I was even already almost a month with Lazio Roma and I had already been with them on training camp. Then Lazio were relegated to Serie B as punishment, where no foreign players were allowed to play, and then I could go back. That was really a shame, because I very much wanted to play there. Last week, someone from Rome came to bring me, 46 years later at last, my Lazio shirt,'' the born Helmond native recalls.
The brothers also believe that one should not take PSV's defeat against Villarreal (1-3) too seriously, and they expect that PSV will perform well again next Sunday when Peter Bosz's team takes to the field at its home Philips Stadium against AZ in the battle for the Johan Cruijff Shield. Both men expect that PSV will ultimately leave the pitch as the winner on Sunday.
''But not everyone was there yet and some were not entirely fit either. It is a practice match and you have to take that with a pinch of salt'', both brothers think about the defeat against the Spaniards.

Obispo case blijft toch echt bizar.
