De Telegraaf hits hard notes about PSV

1 min read

It will probably not have escaped anyone that PSV closed its FAN day last Saturday with a friendly match against Villarreal CF. Peter Bosz's side went down painfully 1-3, and that also hasn't escaped De Telegraaf.

The national newspaper is indeed harsh on the selection of Bosz and in particular about the back line. The PSV defense was very vulnerable against the Spaniards and El Submarino Amarillo (The Yellow Submarine) even managed to create fourteen big chances.

''That is rarely shown by an opponent in Eindhoven'', it sounds in De Telegraaf about the match PSV - Villarreal CF from last Saturday.

In addition, the duo Flamingo-Gasiorowski is also put under the microscope, just like substitute Armando Obispo, whose transfer to RC Lens ultimately did not go through. This duo was not all that strong last year either, and against Villarreal this duo also made plenty of mistakes, as did Obispo.

''Yarek Gasiorowski and Ryan Flamingo formed the heart of the defense. That duo proved just as vulnerable as Noah Fernandez, who, as a left back, played a poor game. ‘Obispo is at the same level as Flamingo, who made the necessary mistakes against the Spaniards and even once suffered a fatal loss of the ball,'' continues the national newspaper.

In addition, De Telegraaf reports that there is longing for Alex Rodrigo da Costa, who was active for PSV between 2004 and 2007, and after a difficult start over the years grew into an important mainstay in the PSV defense and was also very popular among the supporters. '''It creates longing for the strongman Alex, who, as a defender for PSV between 2004 and 2007, terrorized the Dutch pitches. The Eindhoven club could measure up to the European top. With his dominant play and hard shots, the Brazilian earned a transfer to Chelsea. After that, PSV shifted the attention for a while with reasonable success to the Mexicans. Hector Moreno and Carlos Salcido definitely added value'', according to De Telegraaf.

That quote about Villarreal creating 14 big chances is brutal... tbh onze backline stond gewoon open.
