ESPN analyst clear after PSV practice match: “You have to take this in for a bit.”

1 min read

PSV suffered a painful defeat on Saturday evening in a practice match against the Spanish club Villarreal CF. The Spaniards ultimately won 1-3 after a goalless first half at the Philips Stadion, and that hasn’t escaped ESPN analyst Danny Koevermans either.

Afterwards, Peter Bosz already concluded during the press conference that the score could have been much, much higher. Koevermans agrees.

This lets the former PSV player and current analyst know after the match, for the camera of PSV Play. ''We were watching an overpowering Villarreal. And we would have preferred not to see that'', the analyst begins his analysis.

Especially after the Spanish opening goal, Villarreal had the match under control, according to De Koef. ''In the second half, PSV had the ball a bit more early on, but after the 0-1 Villarreal really deserved to win comfortably. If you’re PSV, then that’s quite something. You have to process that for a moment'', the former forward continues.

In addition, the former striker is also critical of the defensive pairing Flamingo-Gasiorowski. ''You really have to look each other in the eye and realize that you’ve truly been completely outclassed. Fortunately it was only 1-3, because it was already astonishing that at halftime it was still 0-0. The center Gasiorowski-Flamingo conceded so many chances—it was like an open house,'' concludes the analyst.

Koevermans saying PSV had an oppermachtig Villarreal to handle is cap for me. If Villarreal had it so under control, then why are we talking about PSV having the better chances? That center Gasiorowski-Flamingo line gave way too many openings, no excuses. 💀

"Dit moet je even verwerken" is so true... especially after 0-0 at halftime and then boom 1-3. Gasiorowski and Flamingo really didnt look like a partnership, just two guys guessing each other's timing lol

Seeing Villarreal dominating like that is painful. After the 0-1, Bosz and Koevermans basically say PSV had the control moments but couldnt turn it into anything. And that "open house" feeling in the middle is exactly what scares me 👀
