PSV player speaks out: “Of course, I’m at the start of a season.”

For three weeks, midfielder Sven Mijnans has been allowed to officially call himself a PSV player after the club took him over from AZ. Last year, Mijnans was also already close to a transfer to PSV, but this was then still prevented by the management of Alkmaar Zaanstreek.

At PSV, Mijnans is described in various media as the successor to Ismael Saibari, who left earlier this summer for FC Bayern München. Still, the newcomer does not want to place himself alongside the departed Saibari.

This lets the midfielder know while speaking with NOS. ''Because we have different qualities. I think we can still bring the same things, such as creating runs, scoring goals, or getting a team playing football. I’m especially planning to show Sven Mijnans what it’s like at PSV,'' the newcomer tells.

In addition, the midfielder of course also has many ambitions through his move to PSV. Also, various media link the Netherlands national team with Mijnans because of his transfer to PSV.

That hasn't escaped the midfielder either. ''I always find it difficult that the media call out so many names, that everyone has to come forward. You have to keep it somewhere in the middle'', says the PSV player.

Nevertheless, Mijnans says he understands the fact that different media link him to Oranje, and that is also a goal the midfielder has set for himself. ''I understand it on the one hand, because it is their job. And of course I’m at the beginning of a season, working on setting goals. Getting Oranje is certainly one that I have in my head,'' said Mijnans.
