Former PSV player returns to old club in Germany: “Every week for 40,000 spectators”
1 min readAfter spending two seasons with German club SC Preußen Münster, former PSV youth player Jorrit Hendrix returns to Fortuna Düsseldorf. Hendrix previously played there in the 2022/2023 season.
The club from Düsseldorf has announced the appointment of the former PSV player via the club's official channels. Hendrix had previously already played 21 matches for the Flingeraner.
The midfielder will sign a contract through 2028 with the club that was relegated from the 2. Bundesliga last season. As a result, Fortuna Düsseldorf will play at the third tier of Germany for the first time in eighteen years next season.
It was still a question whether Hendrix would return, given the fact that former Ajax TD Sven Mislintat, who is still being mocked in the Netherlands, was dismissed after relegation. Despite this, the former PSV player returns to the Ruhr region.
Hendrix is in any case happy about his transfer. ''I always felt that I haven't yet achieved what I wanted to achieve with Fortuna. That motivates me precisely now, and I'm all the happier to be back. I want to do my part to bring the club back to where it belongs,'' said the former PSV player on the club website of the German club, where, according to Eindhovens Dagblad, 40,000 spectators take their seats in the stands every week.

Ik snap de move, maar ik vraag me af of Fortuna de juiste projectkeuzes maakt nu ze uit de 2. Bundesliga zijn gevallen. Met een oud-PSV'er als middenvelder kunnen ze tempo en duels winnen, maar verdedigend moeten ze het niveau ook aan. 😅
Tbh benieuwd hoe snel hij gaat renderen op dit niveau. 3e niveau is heftig, maar als hij met dat "motivateert me juist nu" gevoel speelt kan hij doorslaggevend zijn. 👀
Fortuna gaat na 18 jaar weer naar het derde niveau? Dan heb je spelers nodig die niet bang zijn voor druk. Als Hendrix echt gemotiveerd is, kan dat in de Ruhr echt een banger worden. 🔥👀

"Ik wil mijn steentje bijdragen" oké, maar hij moet het ook gewoon op het veld laten zien he. Fortuna gedegradeerd, en na Mislintat-gedoe is het juist tijd dat spelers als Hendrix het niveau omhoog trekken. Anders is het weer zo'n huurkoop-scenario maar dan met eigen contract... 💀⚽
