ESPN analyst startled by PSV: “Absolutely no answer”

Last Saturday, Peter Bosz’s team suffered a painful 1-3 defeat at the FAN day against Villarreal CF from Spain.

''The summary was too short to make use of all of Villarreal's chances. PSV was actually in a sort of big circle, from about the twelfth minute. PSV started still very strong, with big chances for Alassane Pléa and Dennis Man, but then Villarreal took full control. PSV was there and watched it and had absolutely no answer to it'', Koevermans says on ESPN.
After that, Koef goes into the number of chances given away by Bosz's team. ''Throughout the whole match they gave away something like sixteen chances, of which eleven were big chances. Villarreal was much too strong, so that was a bit of a shock,'' continues the analyst.
The former forward is also of the opinion that PSV should be happy not to have stepped off the field with higher figures. ''There were quite a number of players who are also going to start against AZ, and Villarreal is European sub-top. This was quite an eye-opener. They hadn’t expected it to be such an open house and that the difference would be so big. PSV were genuinely outplayed. It wouldn’t even have been strange if it had become 1-8 or 2-9. Villarreal really missed so many big chances,'' said Koevermans.

Die zestien kansen weggeven, elf grote, dat is wel echt schrikken. tbh als Koevermans zegt dat het 1-8 of 2-9 had kunnen worden, dan was het niet alleen pech, maar gewoon teveel ruimte weggeven.
lol "totaal geen antwoord" is echt precies wat je zag na die eerste sterke fase. Als Villarreal na minuut 12 het spel kan kantelen, dan moet Bosz echt snel iets met compactheid doen.
Tbh ik snap dat ze nog zoeken na de FANdag, maar dit is wel echt een patroon dat je niet wil: balverlies, open momenten, en dan betaal je. Pléa en Man startten scherp, maar daarna kwam er niks terug. Tegen AZ moeten we gewoon de duels winnen en minder "kijken" spelen.
Villarreal had na minuut twaalf de touwtjes strak in handen en wij bleven hangen. Als je 16 kansen weggeeft, waarvan 11 grote, dan snap je die schrik echt. Hopelijk is dit een wake-up en niet iets dat we zondag weer zien.
"Totaal geen antwoord" klinkt wel heel hard, maar eerlijk is eerlijk: tegen Villarreal stond PSV echt te kijken. Ben benieuwd of Bosz dit soort momenten nu tactisch beter afdekt tegen Eindhoven.
