Bosz doesn’t want to get involved in the discussion: “I find it annoying and difficult.”
1 min readLast weekend it became clear that Joey Veerman will definitively not travel with Oranje to the World Cup next summer. Despite a strong season at PSV, the midfielder is not part of the list of 55 players from which a squad of 26 players must then be formed.
Veerman himself also indicated that national team coach Ronald Koeman no longer needs to call him for the Netherlands national team. The Volendammer said this to the camera of ESPN after the match against FC Twente.
According to PSV coach Peter Bosz, the midfielder has the right to give his opinion about the situation involving him and the national team coach, but Bosz himself is not looking to get involved in this discussion. ''I can only judge what I experience with Joey. I can’t judge for Ronald. He has to do that himself, and that’s what he does. I work with Joey every day and I work excellently with him. I think he has a great character. I have to laugh about him very often. He is very direct; you know exactly where you stand with him. He won’t say things behind your back. I think he is very self-critical. If I address him about something, then he thinks it over, and if he agrees with me, he also admits that'', Bosz tells NOS Studio Voetbal.
It also has to do with the fact that the trainer is not part of the coaching staff of the Netherlands national team. “I find it annoying and difficult that now, in a matter like this, I have to start forming an opinion when I’m not part of it at all,” the PSV coach says further.

In addition, Bosz says he has not spoken with Koeman about the character of the midfielder. ''No, of course not. As a coach of a top club, it’s logical that you have contact with the national team coach. There are players who are selected or being considered, and then Ronald says what he thinks of them'', says the native of Apeldoorn.
Bosz also finds it annoying that he would have to get involved in this discussion. ''It’s his right to do so. I’m asked a lot of questions about it, and that’s annoying. I understand very well that Joey is fed up with it, because it’s not only Ronald. Everyone asks him. I’m not going to criticize Ronald, because I’m never at those conversations, so I really can’t. But if I’m asked what Joey’s character is like, then I might be able to judge that the best, because I work with him every day'', concludes the coach.

Look, if the plan is to keep the tempo high, the holding midfielder has to be braver with the first pass. Otherwise the attack just runs into the same wall every time. Goated potential though if they connect earlier 🚀
Who is cooking in this system, though? If the article is implying Sangare is the pivot, fair. 🔥 Because when he steps in, PSV look way more stable and the press becomes a trap, not chaos.
I like the selection, but tbh the substitution plan felt a bit late. When the opponent started switching play, PSV needed another runner to stretch them, not just fresh legs. Hope PSV learns fast because the next round will be way tighter.
"faster transition" sounds nice, but can PSV do it consistently for 90? If we chase the ball and then lose the second ball, it turns into a counter-fest. I will be watching that back line closely 👀
Midfield control was mid, ngl. Too many sideways passes when we should be turning into the half-space, defenders were comfortable. But ok, if the press forces mistakes then fine 😅
"psv inside" and you can already see the plan, get the ball to the wide lanes and pull their fullbacks out. 👀 But we cant keep forcing the same diagonal every attack, it will get picked off. Let Luuk or Saibari make the simple pass, not the highlight reel.
🔥🔥 That right side was cooking. If the winger repeats those runs next match, teams are finished. Also the midfield cover looked cleaner today, finally.
Frenkie van de? (dont know if its the exact quote) but if the article is saying we were "patient in possession", i disagree. We were patient until the last pass, then it became panic and sloppy touches. Better one-touch options please.
The best thing imo is that we are finally playing with a bit more urgency after losing it. When the article mentions the faster transition, that is exactly what makes the difference. Defend better for 10 minutes and we are cooking 🔥
If PSV are really switching to that faster build-up in transition, Luuk de Jong needs to stay sharp in the box. Otherwise teams just bypass him and we lose the second ball. Imo this is the difference between "dominant" and "mid possession".
If PSV really went with that high press up front, i hope they keep it. Watching the build-up, it looked like De Jong dropped too deep at times and left space for the counter. Still, the intent was there, just needs better timing.
If PSV are going with that 4-3-3 shape, i want the wide guys to hug the touchline more. Right now it feels like we get stretched and then the midfield has to cover everything. Still, the pressure looks promising.
