The departing striker expresses gratitude: “I will always hold PSV close to my heart.”
1 min readAfter a loan spell with provincial rival RKC Waalwijk, PSV has decided to permanently sell striker Jesper Uneken. Uneken continues his career at IK Sirius FK in Sweden.
On 6 April 2024, the striker made his debut for PSV’s first team during the match PSV - AZ (5-1). As injury time was reached, Uneken scored to make it 5-1 and, for now, it will remain at that one goal in PSV’s first team.
The striker played for more than fifteen years for PSV and also went through all the youth teams. Now it’s time for Uneken to seek his fortune abroad.
Despite this, the attacker PSV is enormously grateful for everything. ''Leaving the club after fifteen years is of course a big step, but I am ready for this new challenge. I will always have a warm heart for PSV. I can honestly say that it has become a second home for me,'' says Uneken on the PSV website.
Also Jan Vennegoor of Hesslink looks back with great pleasure on the time of Uneken at PSV. ''He went through all the youth teams, then made his debut for Jong PSV and after that also made his first minutes in PSV 1. With our academy and already lots of professional football experience in his luggage, he is ready to develop further on a great stage,'' said the former PSV striker.

"Ik zal PSV altijd een warm hart toedragen" is gewoon klasse, geen kap. Alleen jammer dat PSV hem niet nog een langer plan heeft gegeven. Als Jong PSV en jeugd het zo goed doen, dan wil je toch nog meer eindproduct zien.
iemand die letterlijk alles via de jeugd heeft doorlopen en dan toch "definitief verkopen" ... tbh wringt het. Maar misschien is het gewoon beter voor zijn ontwikkeling. Sirius FK, interessant, ben benieuwd of hij daar een basisstamspeler wordt. 👀
Hij heeft 15 jaar PSV meegemaakt, dat voelt wel als afscheid met respect. Toch vraag ik me af of de club hem niet had kunnen houden als back-up spits, zeker na die Jong PSV stappen.
Hij had bij PSV vooral dat ene moment tegen AZ (5-1) in de spotlight. Jammer dat hij niet meer door kon pakken, maar als hij na alle jeugdteams echt klaar is voor een nieuwe uitdaging, dan is dat te begrijpen. "Warm hart" blijft mooi.
That AZ-game (5-1) was a moment, but 1 goal in the first team and then goodbye... Hope Sirius does him good, maar PSV had ook meer kunnen uitbuiten.
Ngl, die AZ-wedstrijdgoal was echt zo'n PSV-moment. 15 jaar en dan ineens weg, voelt toch leeg maar respect voor zijn instelling. Succes in Zweden, hopelijk krijgt hij daar ook z'n credits.
"Ik zal PSV altijd een warm hart toedragen" is wel echt netjes, tbh. Maar stiekem balen we nog steeds dat we hem niet vaker in PSV-1 zagen als echte optie.
