PSV target on the way to Germany
1 min readAfter PSV previously also reached for Mats Rots and Ruud Nijstad from FC Twente this summer transfer period, the club will also go after Kodai Sano from NEC. Sano had an excellent season in Nijmegen, where third place was achieved, and as a result he attracted a lot of interest.
Among others, PSV showed great interest in bringing the Japanese player, who was not part of his country’s World Cup squad, to Eindhoven. Sano, however, chooses to continue his career at TSG Hoffenheim in Germany, where he will become a teammate of Mats Rots.
With that news, Voetbal International will announce Thursday afternoon. According to VI, the club from the Bundesliga has tabled an offer of eighteen million euros, which can rise to twenty million euros with bonuses.
That amount was also exactly what Nijmegen Eendracht Combinatie had in mind. Even though the transfer is not yet finalized, it seems only a matter of time before Sano actually leaves for Germany.

It was already long clear that PSV would have to go deep to sign the midfielder, and certainly given the competition it was a tough task to actually lure the Japanese player to Eindhoven. Now PSV will once again come up short in pursuit of a player from its own Eredivisie.
Kodai Sano gaat NEC zeer waarschijnlijk verlaten. De 22-jarige smaakmaker is op weg naar 1899 Hoffenheim. https://t.co/iXDswFGnZt

🔥🔥 It feels like our best moments come when the fullbacks step up and the 10 actually moves between lines. Do that and we cook.
The midfield balance is the whole story for me. If PSV start chasing every second ball, they lose control in transition. Against teams that counter well, that is dangerous.
"PSV Inside" keeps bringing up the same thing: we need more brave forward passes. Till then, our build-up is gonna look nice on highlights, but not enough for points.
This midfield better actually control the tempo. If we keep gifting second balls, opponents will feast on that space behind the 6.
If PSV really want to play more direct from the back, Xavi Simons has to be the trigger. Otherwise itll just get messy in the half-spaces, and opponents will press us to death.
