FC Twente defender open to transfer to PSV
1 min readIn the past few weeks, Ruud Nijstad and Mats Rots have been linked above all with a transfer to PSV, as a busy transfer summer is expected in Eindhoven and PSV will be looking for new defenders. Both talents from FC Twente are having a good season and are therefore attracting interest from several clubs.
FC Twente right-back Bart van Rooij is also reportedly on the radar of various clubs. Last winter, the wing-back was still able to move to Wolverhampton Wanderers in England, but that transfer ultimately did not happen.
In conversation with Voetbal International, Van Rooij goes deeper into the fact that there was no transfer to England. ''I know that there has been contact sometimes between my side and a delegation from Wolves. But I also know that they don’t have the same budget as they did in the winter. Back then, they had just sold Strand Larsen. What they had for me then, they are not going to pay in their current situation. But who knows. There’s nothing concrete for me at the moment, but I assume that SEG is working behind the scenes on inventorying things'', the right-back tells VI openly.
Next summer, there is a chance that Sergiño Dest will leave PSV after three seasons, which means the club has to look for a new right back and Van Rooij himself is definitely open to a transfer to the champions. ''That would definitely be an option for me,'' the defender says firmly.
Nevertheless, Van Rooij has by no means ruled out a transfer abroad either. ''I'm open to the foreign, a different league. But playing for the Dutch champions, gaining experience in the Champions League; that is also very interesting. Only not at the moment. But PSV may make an offer'', said the right-back.

Ruud Nijstad en Mats Rots ook in het lijstje is wel lekker, maar ik snap nu vooral Bart van Rooij ook. Als SEG "inventariseren" doet, is dit wel zo'n naam die direct kan helpen. 🔥
Tbh klinkt het alsof Van Rooij vooral de CL en Eredivisie-kampioen factor geil vindt. Als PSV het systeem goed heeft, kan hij prima meedraaien. Toch denk ik dat PSV al meerdere plannen heeft, want een transferzomer wordt altijd hectisch.
"Zou voor mij zeker een optie zijn" lekker duidelijk. Alleen ff oppassen dat PSV niet te veel op rechtsback leunt en de rest van de verdediging vergeet. Dest eruit, Van Rooij erin, ok... maar wat met diepgang en snelheid?
Van Rooij zegt "PSV mag zich melden"... tbh dat klinkt als precies het type rechtsback dat we nodig hebben. Als Dest echt vertrekt dan moet PSV nu doorpakken, niet pas in augustus.
ik vind het wel spannend want Twente verdedigers zijn altijd lastig. maar als Wolves geen geld had, waarom zou PSV wel betalen? tbh, als SEG druk is met inventariseren, dan komt er denk ik toch iets uit.
Nijstad en Mats Rots lijken me echt logische PSV-profielen, maar Bart van Rooij als backup en directe versterking op rechts, daar snap ik de nieuwsgierigheid wel. Als Dest vertrekt, moet je niet alleen talent halen maar ook rendement. "PSV mag zich melden" klinkt alsof hij al voorbereid is.
