“Ex-PSV player gets new contract with current club”
1 min readIn the summer of 2023, Ibrahim Sangaré left PSV after three years, and the Ivorian continued his career at Nottingham Forest in England. After two difficult seasons marked by injuries, the midfielder was an important link for Forest last season.
This is also the club management of the English great power, which in the 1980s won the European Cup I twice, and could not have missed. Thanks in part to this, Sangaré's contract is extended until the summer of 2029.
With this news, the outlet The Telegraph is coming out with information. The English club had already seen Elliott Anderson leave for Manchester City earlier and, partly thanks to that, Forest has made a major move by keeping the former PSV player for longer.
Last season, Nottingham Forest had a mixed season in which they fought against relegation, but still reached the Europa League semi-finals. Forest managed to stay up, and in the semi-finals the club was ultimately eliminated by the eventual winners, Aston Villa.

Sangaré also took part for Ivory Coast at the 2026 World Cup, in which the Ivorians for the first time progressed beyond the group stage. In the second round, the African country ultimately had to bow 1-2 against the well-performing Norway.

But is Forest actually better because of this or just managing the damage? They were shaky all season, and letting Anderson go already hints they might still have to cash in later. Sangaré is solid, though, so i get the decision.
Nottingham renewing him to 2029 is smart business. After those injury-hit seasons at PSV, i like seeing him bounce back as a key piece, not just a squad player. Also, that WC 2026 run with Ivoorkust... 1-2 vs Norway is still a respectable statement.
Good news for Forest tbh. If Sangaré stays fit, he was exactly the kind of glue they needed to survive that relegation scare and still reach the Europa League semis.
