“Transfer value has risen sharply” | Peter Bosz speaks out about the availability of World Cup trip-goers for the game against AZ: “Not available”

Slowly but surely, the so-called World Cup travelers will start trickling back in over the coming weeks, and it is reasonable to ask whether some—if not all—World Cup travelers will still be active with PSV next season.

The interest is increasing, after all. This applies to both Ricardo Pepi and Sergino Dest, but also to, for example, Esmir Bajraktarević. Pepi is one of the PSV players that is linked to a transfer during the upcoming period. Other clubs, however, seem to have to dig deep for the American goalscorer, who earlier this calendar year had already reached an almost agreement with Premier League club Fulham.

The love between Fulham and Pepi seems, at the very least, to have cooled off, but that does not change the fact that Pepi still manages to represent many millions of euros. The German outlet Transfermarkt values the striker, who had a disappointing tournament at home, at an amount of 30 million euros. That is five million euros more than in the most recent estimate in March of this year. But at the same time, it is 10 million euros less than what Fulham was willing to pay at the time of the agreement between the two clubs.

This season, the American striker scored nineteen goals and provided two assists in 34 official matches for PSV. This prompts PSV management to take action, because the club intends to keep Pepi for another season by means of a significantly improved contract. As a result, in the summer of 2027 it could be possible to pursue a real multi-million-euro transfer to a bigger club than Fulham.

Peter Bosz still cannot make use of Pepi just yet. In the match for the Johan Cruyff Shield, Pepi does not seem to be available for selection yet. A number of internationals who were active at the World Cup will soon join up again, but they will not all be immediately available for the match for the Johan Cruyff Shield.

"They are all back, but some have only been in training for three days. They will then still not be available to play", explains Peter Bosz in an interview with ESPN.

Serieus though, if we are not using our width properly, Luuk style runs wont matter. Need more overlaps, more early crosses, stop making it so easy for their defenders to set up 💯

Eens. Some of the link-up between the 10 and the winger was fire, but the final ball still looks mid at times. Make that last pass quicker and this becomes a banger 🔥

"We need more control in midfield" is correct, but it also depends on the fullbacks. If they stay too high, the pivot gets exposed and we end up chasing the ball all match 👀

Lmao if the article thinks our right side is fine, then we clearly watched different games. For me Tillman needs to start more centrally, so our build-up has an extra option. Otherwise it gets predictable fast 😅

"PSV Inside" makes it sound so simple, but tbh our right side still gets stretched. When the fullback doesnt step early, that winger has free space all match. 👀

If PSV go with that midfield shape again, we will get stretched in transitions. Sangare has to be more brave with his first touch, otherwise teams press us into mistakes.

I think the biggest issue is the midfield shape. If PSV keeps letting gaps open between the 6 and the 8, opponents will pick us apart every time. Fix that, and our build-up actually looks lethal.
