According to Hugo Borst, PSV has nothing to fear…
1 min readNetherlands seems on track to reach the quarterfinals of the World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. After beating Morocco, the winner of the match between Canada and South Africa will await, after which either Germany or France will face them.
That would mean that Ronald Koeman with the Netherlands national team could still move toward the semi-finals of the World Cup, and that is precisely what the KNVB has formulated as its wish and objective. Still, it seems quite certain that Koeman is working on his final run of matches for the Netherlands national team. And so speculation about his successor has already begun cautiously.
According to Borst, PSV does not need to fear a departure of Peter Bosz because the KNVB would be thinking of Micael Reiziger as Koeman’s successor, something Borst himself hopes will be Arne Slot. Once again concluded, PSV therefore has nothing to fear anywhere. Peter Bosz will also be under contract as head coach at PSV next season.
Hugo Borst has had it pretty tough with Ronald Koeman as national team coach, which he does want to emphasize. Borst hopes that after the World Cup, another national team coach will be put in charge of the group with the Netherlands national team. The AD journalist and media man does not rule out that Michael Reiziger will be moved up by the KNVB.

"Koeman as a coach is definitely no amateur, but a powerhouse, that’s not to say that either", he explains in his column on the website of Algemeen Dagblad. "Ronald has been playing it safe for about 25 years. He is a solid all-rounder. We have to make do with that. Personally, I would replace him immediately with Henk ten Cate. That man is tactically in a class of his own - in part because of him, Frank Rijkaard won the Champions League with FC Barcelona in 2006", Borst begins his analysis.
"His field trainings seem to be superb. Just like those of Arne Slot. He would also be a better choice than Koeman", he continues. "A people’s manager, someone who can didactically convince players of an exciting style of play. Hopefully Slot will follow Koeman as Oranje manager in a few weeks, although I suspect that Nigel de Jong from the KNVB will soon be bringing in Michael Reiziger, also a fairly ordinary footballer, by the way", Borst concludes.
"Robin van Persie (who was dismissed on Sunday by Feyenoord, red.) is for me always remained a football player. And what a one. A striker. A world-class striker. One who, on his own, was better than Malen, Depay, Weghorst and Brobbey put together", he says. "And around Robin you had Sneijder and Robben. And on the bench sat Van Gaal. Those were the days", Borst concludes.
