Aad de Mos points to former PSV player: "That's a shame"
1 min readLast year, Noa Lang left PSV for Napoli, only to be loaned out midway through the season to Galatasaray due to a poor relationship with coach Antonio Conte. Now Lang is active with Oranje at the World Cup in North America, and the former PSV player has to do it mainly with a role as a substitute.
Former football coach and nowadays analyst Aad de Mos believes that the winger has made the wrong choices in his football career in recent years. De Mos says this in the Eindhovens Dagblad podcast Heet van de Herdgang.
In addition, the former coach points to his transfer to Italy. ''The coach there, Conte, didn't want him. You have to get him to do completely new things, because Napoli play so defensively, on the counter. That's his right, isn't it? He's Italian. They don't have any trouble with that there. But it's not something for Lang'', De Mos believes.
The intermediate step to Turkey can also rely on many critical notes from the former PSV coach. “Then he goes to Galatasaray and there it also turns out absolutely nothing. There are better players there than him at that time. So apparently you’re not choosing your sporting career, but the financial one. That’s a shame. Later he has his money, that’s good, but you can’t tell your grandchildren: look at what grandpa has all done,” the analyst continues.
In addition, the born Hageneer thinks that Lang could have gotten more out of his career than the winger has done now. ''At Club Brugge they really wanted him. He was happy there. PSV also wanted him. They paid a bundle of money for him and he showed it there. It won’t be sitting well between the ears, I think, at a time like that'', concludes De Mos.

Wacht, 0 minuten op het WK en dan komt hij ook nog in de discussie terecht bij ex-PSV analisten. Ik vind het vooral pijnlijk dat PSV hem "met een bak geld" haalde en hij toen wél gewoon impact had. Nu vraag ik me af of het echt aan hem lag, of dat hij steeds op de verkeerde rol terechtkwam. 🤬
De Mos zegt dat Napoli hem niet wilde omdat hij nieuwe dingen moest leren door hun verdedigende speelstijl. Als je dat niet past voelt, dan heb je dus nooit echt kans gehad. "Dat is zonde" inderdaad, want Club Brugge was duidelijk zijn goede plek ❤️
Idk bruh, dat verhaal voelt als terugkijken vanuit comfort. Lang heeft bij PSV laten zien dat hij kwaliteit heeft, alleen opvolging naar Napoli en dan verhuurd worden... dat is echt een kettingreactie die je niet wil 😅
"Dan kies je dus blijkbaar niet voor je sportieve carrière, maar voor het financiële." Tbh daar zit een kern in. Alleen PSV betaalt geen "bak geld" voor iemand die het mentaal niet aankan, dus ik snap ook waarom De Mos zegt dat het in zijn hoofd zat.
tbh ik snap De Mos deels, maar Napoli en Conte is natuurlijk ook context. Als je daar niet speelt op het WK en je hele verhaal wordt "niet nodig", dan voelen die eerdere transfers gewoon verkeerd. Toch vind ik "financieel" te kort door de bocht, spelers hebben ook adviseurs en timing nodig.
Maar oké, Conte is ook niet zomaar iemands coachcarrière. Als je tegen een systeem aanloopt als counter-ploeg, dan wordt je ineens "mid" op papier. Toch jammer, want bij Brugge kon hij wél impact maken 🔥
Echt zonde dat Noa Lang nog geen minuut heeft op dit WK. De Mos is hard maar wel logisch, Napoli speelde niet naar zijn type voetbal.
"Dat is zonde" ja echt wel... Noa heeft bij PSV momenten van klasse laten zien, maar daarna lijkt het vooral keuzes en ego-dingen te zijn geweest. Als hij bij Club Brugge al paste, waarom dan niet die lijn doortrekken?
