Summer transfer 2026 | “You can see that that price has become unaffordable for PSV”
1 min readThe transfer violence in the Philips Stadium still needs to be set in motion, but it will be finalized just after the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada. PSV, however, wanted to get in action recently when it turned out that FC Twente player Mats Rots was on the verge of being sold.
However, it was not an Eredivisie transfer because Mats Rots is going to continue his career at Hoffenheim, although the wing-back was also on PSV’s wish list, which, to put it simply, had been poorly informed about the defender but soon heard that there was little to nothing possible.
PSV watcher Jeroen Kapteijns sees that it’s going the wrong way in that respect. The journalist from De Telegraaf finds it a shame that the left back from FC Twente is leaving for the Bundesliga and, for example, first going to a club like PSV in order to develop himself further.
"For a player like Rots it would have been good to first make an intermediate step at a club like PSV, and then go on to the Premier League or Bundesliga", he explains in the Kick-Off podcast from De Telegraaf. "But you can see that that price has become unaffordable for PSV", Kapteijns points to the requested transfer fees for players from FC Twente, AZ, NEC and, to a lesser extent, FC Utrecht.

"He was on the list, but they have not taken any concrete steps. For this kind of amount, PSV would not have been able to sign him," says the journalist from De Telegraaf. FC Twente will receive a total of around 16 million euros, of which 13.5 million euros is fixed. "Those 2.5 million are bonuses that will almost certainly be paid out. If they are not paid out, then they have to be paid at the end of the day by Hoffenheim", according to Jeroen Kapteijns.

Eens. If we score first, this becomes a different game. If not, the tempo drops and it gets mid real fast 🤡
Really liked the bit about pressing, because thats where we win duels. But if the press fails once, we look shaky on transition. Fix the spacing and im all in.
Eens. The winger movement looked way better lately, especially that diagonal run they kept going for. ⚽ If they repeat it, the fullback cant rest.
"PSV Inside" is giving proper matchday vibes 🔥 but i just know teams will target that back line when the fullbacks push high. Need better cover and quicker decisions.
"PSV Inside" talks like the plan is already set, but tbh we still look shaky when the press is high. 👀 Viergever... sorry, whoever is driving that first pass, he has to be braver.
Man, if PSV are serious about control in midfield, they cant keep relying on the same tempo. Need more ball progression from the inside, otherwise teams sit deep and hit on the transitions.
If PSV want control, i feel the midfield needs to be braver on the ball. Too many safe passes and then we get stuck trying to break teams down.
