Ivan Perišić points from the United States at the PSV supporters

The world championship in the United States, Mexico, and Canada is still in full swing for Ivan Perišić as well. The Croat is now 37 years old, but still an important regular starter for Croatia. Perišić can’t be worn out.

As a star player for PSV and Croatia, the PSV player, who in fact should and could be the captain of PSV next season, takes pleasure in Luka Modric. The midfielder is employed by AC Milan and has enjoyed years of success with Real Madrid, but he is no longer automatically considered a starting player for the Croatian national team.

So far, Croatia is not doing too badly yet. They lost to England, 4-2, and Panama went down by only the narrowest margin: 1-0. Thanks to the win against Ghana in matchday 3, Perišić still advances to the next round with his country. However, the Croatian PSV player is also keeping an eye on developments surrounding the Netherlands national team and PSV.

“We motivate each other and I’m convinced that we can still improve further. With hard work and a great commitment, we can push the boundaries. We still have that hunger. I believe that despite our age, we may still be able to achieve something", he says about his teammate Modric, who, as a player for AC Milan, also still knows no stopping. 

Modric has already reached the magical milestone of 200 (!) caps, Perisic stands at 156 but he does not seem to be thinking about calling it quits yet. "That hunger is still there. I will be here too to make the difference, as long as I can still manage it with these young players. But I’ve been here for years already and I’ve decided to play", he sounds determined.

Perišić still allows from the United States that he still has contact with, among others, Noa Lang.. whom he gladly encourages to bring out the very best in himself. “The day of this match was Noa Lang’s birthday, so I called him in the morning. We talk to each other a lot and push each other to become better. That is what’s great about PSV and the players I learned there. I hope everyone stays fit and plays good matches at this World Cup. I appreciate the fact that the PSV fans always support me everywhere, and in every place. I want to thank them for that", Perišić finally points once more to the PSV fans, who in fact support the Croatian PSV player every day on social media.
