Foreign media point to PSV after Robin van Persie’s dismissal
1 min readLast weekend it was announced that Robin van Persie has been dismissed as coach of Feyenoord. Under the leadership of the former top striker, Feyenoord did finish second, but with a street-length gap behind PSV.
Even abroad, there is plenty of attention for the dismissal of Van Persie. In this context, the media also point to PSV.
In England the media react with disbelief. ''After only sixteen months at the helm of the Eredivisie club,'' writes the BBC. ''Former Manchester United player sacked despite finishing second,'' writes the Manchester Evening News, which also mentions PSV. ''Feyenoord finished no less than nineteen points behind leader PSV and performed inconsistently, with a painful dip in form around November and December. Van Persie was also criticized for conflicts with players and the ongoing tinkering with the lineup,'' according to the local paper.
Also in Germany, the coach’s dismissal is a hot topic. “In the Eredivisie, PSV was again unbeatable,” writes the outlet Kicker. “Feyenoord, for its part, was so dissatisfied with the season that, precisely three weeks after the last matchday, head coach Robin van Persie was dismissed. Over the long term, Van Persie had not been able to convince the management. His team was first eliminated in the final qualifying round for the Champions League and then disappointed on all fronts, with six defeats in eight matches in the group stage of the Europa League. The early elimination in the KNVB Cup and the disappointing results in the Eredivisie strengthened the decision by those responsible,” Kicker said.

Even the Spanish Mundo Deportivo writes about the dismissal of the former striker. ''Van Persie’s future at the club where he began his playing career hung by a thread since the appointment of Rigaux and the new general director, Robert Eenhoorn. Rigaux had already warned that he would assess Van Persie’s performances. Feyenoord finished nineteen points behind champion PSV and showed inconsistency throughout the season. Van Persie was criticized for his conflicts with players and for his constant changes to his lineups, amid reports suggesting that he had a chaotic management style'', the outlet concludes.

BBC saying "after only sixteen months"... yeah because they expected instant progress. But with that form dip around Nov and Dec, it makes sense PSV were too consistent.
"Feyenoord eindigde liefst negentien punten achter koploper PSV" zegt alles.
👀 PSV was gewoon peak.
I get that Feyenoord under Van Persie ended up second, but the 19-point gap to PSV and those Europa League group stage losses are wild. Conflicts with players and constant changes in the lineup sounds like the exact opposite of control.
ngl it's funny how every foreign outlet links it to PSV. 19 points behind and suddenly they blame the coach, thats how harsh Eredivisie gets.
BBC saying "just sixteen months" is wild, but fair. If Feyenoord is 19 points behind PSV and still looked inconsistent, you can see why they panicked.
