ESPN reporter points to PSV regarding the World Cup: “I secretly watch quite a lot of matches”
1 min readThe World Cup in football in Canada, Mexico and the United States is just around the corner, and partly due to time differences, some matches will also be played in the middle of the night. So, the Netherlands will play their third match at 1:00 a.m. Dutch time on the night of 25 to 26 June.
For ESPN reporter Fresia Cousiño Arias, this is the main reason she doesn’t choose a faraway vacation this year. Cousiño Arias tells FCUpdate in an interview.
''I'm going away for a week, but I also always find it quite nice to be at home during the tournament, watch a bit of football with friends. And I do have to do a bit of a shift at ESPN from time to time. I personally always prefer to go away during the winter break. If there's a tournament like that and we go away, I don't think it would really make my girlfriend very happy if we're constantly watching matches at night. Then it's also not really a vacation for her, so I have to take that into account a bit'', says the ESPN reporter.
Cousiño Arias is, despite the fact that matches are also played at night, planning to follow as many as possible and the reporter also points to PSV in the process. ''I secretly watch quite a lot of matches, you know. There will be quite a few where I won't stay awake and get up until 4.00 in the morning. But then again, there are of course quite a lot of Eredivisie players who are active there. I really do like that, whether it's Anis Hadj Moussa or Esmir Bajraktarevic'', the presenter continues.

The reporter also predicts the world champion. ''Well, I think everyone gives France the best chance. If the squad comes from there, you always think: wow, how can he not be in it, why hasn’t he made the squad? That always amazes me. In general, there are also plenty of players you think: we could really use them here in the Netherlands. So I expect France, but the most fun thing about a World Cup—and especially with so many countries: surprises are bound to happen in it'', said Cousiño Arias.

France als favoriet snap ik, maar imo they win games with experience, not vibes. Anyway, i want PSV guys to prove they belong on that stage, not just be 'Eredivisie players'.
"Ik kijk stiekem best wel veel wedstrijden" en dan ben ik meteen benieuwd welke PSV-spelers ze op het oog heeft. Hopelijk zijn er spelers met minuten, want anders wordt het weer zo'n WK waar we vooral naar geruchten zitten te kijken.
"Ik kijk stiekem best wel veel wedstrijden" is a mood, maar tbh she should just commit to waking up for the PSV games too. With Eredivisie guys in that line-up, it will be hard to ignore PSV players at the WC.
Nice, Fresia is clearly watching PSV players closely. If she's even awake for Eredivisie guys like Hadj Moussa or Bajraktarevic, PSV's scouting links feel real 🔥🐐
