1 min readFor PSV, a busy transfer summer is likely on the horizon. The club is being heavily pursued by Ismael Saibari, and there is also a chance that some current players will leave PSV after the World Cup.
Sergino Dest has expressed multiple times over the past few months his wish to make a transfer this summer. Dest is currently preparing with Team USA for the World Cup, which will be organized in part in his home country.
Nevertheless, for the American international, who has been active for PSV since the summer of 2023, it is not certain whether he will actually leave after the World Cup. ''It’s not out of the question that I stay, because I still have two years left on my contract. But I think it could be a good moment to make a step. I think every player has ambitions. I’ve been at PSV for three years now, and we’ve been champions three years in a row. I’ve already played in top competitions, and I know I’m not done there yet'', Dest tells De Telegraaf.
However, the American does not just want to leave." I just want to achieve a bit more yet, and I know that I can. I’m definitely ambitious to take a step up. But I’m not just going to leave. It has to really fit me," the right-back continues.
Since his arrival at PSV, Dest has been of great value to Peter Bosz's team. Towards the end of the 2023/2024 season, misfortune struck the winger defender during training, causing the American to be sidelined for nine months.
In March 2025, Dest made his comeback in the home match against sc Heerenveen (2-1) and has since again been of great value for PSV. Due in part to this, it seems likely that after the World Cup Dest will no longer be in PSV’s employ.

Losing Dest would be a real blow, not just in minutes but in balance. Even with Dest being able to move higher, i feel Bosz is using him smart, and that injury comeback narrative shows he is still improving 👀
Dest was echt peak toen hij terug was tegen sc Heerenveen, 2-1 en ineens weer die duels en overlap. Als hij weer stabiel blijft tot na het WK, zou ik hem niet meteen verkopen. Eerst kijk ik naar hoeveel minuten en rol hij krijgt.
iemand die al topcompetities zegt en tegelijk zegt "ik ga niet zomaar weg" is precies hoe je ziet dat hij nog een seizoen wil plannen, niet rennen. tbh als Bosz weer met die structuur speelt, kan Dest nog belangrijk blijven. Maar bij een goede aanbieding, move gaat ie.

Dest saying it might be a good moment to step up is exactly what we have all expected. But tbh i still think PSV should make it expensive, because he has been key since coming back.
"Het is niet uitgesloten dat ik blijf" klinkt toch als een open deur hoor. Als Saibari komt en er schuiven nog meer spelers door, dan wil Dest gewoon de timing goed hebben. Wel logisch dat hij zegt dat het bij hem moet passen.
