PSV halts negotiations, but for how long? | “A personal agreement is not a problem”
1 min readPSV this weekend pulled the plug on negotiations with NEC, and that is more than justified to say the least. The Nijmegen club is disproportionately high in the tree for star player Kodai Sano, who last season certainly managed to shine but at the same time did not play with the roof on fire.
It is actually fairly simple to call it. The club management finds 18 million euros for the Japanese player who is not an international from his country 'not realistic'. And so the negotiations have been stopped between the two clubs, but for how long, because something seems to be in the air.
PSV has in any case made it known to NEC that, at the moment, it has dropped out for Kodai Sano. According to the Eindhovens Dagblad, the willingness on the PSV side can certainly be called great, but NEC simply demands an amount that is too high for the Japanese player, who once again emphasizes that he is not a Japan A-international.
As many as eighteen million euros plus bonuses, the club from Nijmegen, backed by its financier, wishes to receive for Sano. PSV would, in fact, find eighteen million 'not realistic', and as the club management has said, it has taken more than a justified position regarding that. Given earlier million-euro transfers, a transfer fee of fourteen to fifteen million appears to be the maximum for PSV.
NEC in any case believes it is realistic to ask for this kind of amounts. Hoffenheim seemed recently to be about to strengthen their squad with Sano, but that deal fell through at the last minute.

"Persoonlijk akkoord is geen probleem" dus dan ligt het echt aan de prijs. 18 miljoen plus bonussen voor iemand die geen Japanse A is, is imo risicovol. Rekenen PSV dan ook met salaris, doorverkoop en directe rol, of gokken ze op een biedingswinst? 🤔
"Persoonlijk akkoord is geen probleem" klinkt mooi, maar wat heb je eraan als het geld niet rond komt. Als ze echt 18 miljoen willen, dan is het gewoon niet PSV-waardig. Dan is het beter om nu door te pakken met een plan B.
Stoppen is juist het signaal dat PSV moet geven. Als Sano inderdaad niet de internationale status heeft, dan moet je de prijs ook niet zetten op een 'bijna toptransfer' niveau. Vraag me af hoelang NEC wil wachten, want die Hoffenheim-boot ging al bijna.
tbh NEC kan wel roepen dat 18+bonussen kan, maar PSV heeft gewoon geen zin om mee te bieden uit principe. Sano was goed, maar niet "15 miljoen garantie" goed. Ik ben benieuwd of PSV nu doorschakelt naar een alternatief of dat dit gewoon wachten wordt.
18 miljoen voor Sano zonder dat hij A-international is, dat is gewoon kassa-gevoel, niet voetballogica. Als PSV 14-15 miljoen max ziet, snap ik die grens wel. Maar als er echt iets in de lucht hangt, wie neemt het dan over? 👀
tbh Sano was vorig seizoen lekker maar hij is nog steeds geen level waarop je 18m+bonussen betaalt. NEC vraagt alsof hij al een vaste waarde bij de top van Europa is. PSV heeft gewoon onderhandeld zoals het hoort.
18 miljoen voor Sano als hij geen A-international is, dat klinkt echt als teveel. Als PSV al vindt dat 14-15 de max is, dan snap ik deze lijn wel hoor. NEC kan blijven roepen, maar dan maar geen Deal.
