Welcome to Ismael Saibari and FC Bayern Munich, following an agreed transfer fee of €55 million

1 min read

The transfer of Ismael Saibari to FC Bayern München is, as is known, completely finalized and has meanwhile also been settled. Both clubs already confirmed the million-euro transfer last week. Still, there is a small setback to process now that Saibari has dropped out due to an injury. The player who has meanwhile joined FC Bayern has reportedly suffered a serious injury.

PSV is still praised on all sides for the multi-million deal with FC Bayern, but Aad de Mos also points to the long-forgotten predecessor of Earnie Stewart, John de Jong. 'Nice work, right?', De Mos begins about De Jong, who has had a major hand in the arrival of Saibari to PSV.

Aad de Mos believes that PSV former technical director John de Jong can be grateful for the arrival of Ismael Saibari. In De Oranjezomer, De Mos praises the man who led the technical policy in Eindhoven between 2018 and 2022. According to De Mos, during his time at PSV, De Jong did not always receive the recognition he deserved. "He was never talked about that well, because he was replaced by Earnest Stewart. But he did a lot of very good things", De Mos says.

The analyst also points to the transfer of Saibari. "He took him from Genk for 200 thousand euros—that’s great work, isn’t it? If you then get 55 million euros for him now, you’ve definitely earned your money back as a technical manager."

Presenter Hélène Hendriks then cites the criticism that Saibari received in the past about his physique. "It has often been said that he is too fat. Ruud van Nistelrooij said at the time: that's not true, that's his build. He has only eight percent body fat." The Mos can confirm that. "And he's tall. You get startled when you stand next to him—he's an incredibly tall guy. You don't see that on the pitch. He's also a really nice guy. He's very good for the fans and for the youth; he always stays behind as the last one for autographs. That is a bit of a loss for PSV."

Still, as mentioned, Ismael Saibari has experienced a major setback now that he was injured during the World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada. The Moroccan international was forced to leave the field early in the round of 16 match between Morocco and Canada. That can be called a big disappointment for the Moroccans, who were counting on their top scorer.

Saibari was in excellent form ahead of the meeting. The attacker found the net in all three group matches against Brazil, Scotland and Haiti. In the round of 16 against the Netherlands, a goal was missing, but from the penalty spot onwards he remained ice-calm by slotting in the decisive penalty. After that came the emotions with his family, but now there is also a hamstring injury. It is unclear how long Saibari will be out, but it may be clear that this can be called a significant setback for both Morocco and for FC Bayern, which will transfer as much as 55 million euros to PSV.
