Critical female presenters of Ziggo Sport address Salah-Eddine
1 min readAnass Salah-Eddine is still active with Morocco at the 2026 World Cup after the Atlas Lions managed to win on Tuesday night on penalties against the Netherlands. In addition, the left-back has since left PSV and returned to AS Roma.
After the victory over the Netherlands national team, Salah-Eddine said he was extra motivated to eliminate Oranje. This creates a lot of confusion among Ziggo Sport presenters Hélène Hendriks and Noa Vahle.
Vahle was, on behalf of Vandaag Inside Oranje, the reporter at the World Cup in North America and in HNM the podcast host looks back on the interview she held afterwards with the Moroccan international. ''He was born and raised in Amsterdam. He went through his entire youth development in the Netherlands and ultimately chose Morocco. Of course, it’s super great for him to be at a World Cup. After the match, I asked him what it was like to play this game. Well, that sparkle in his eyes! So motivated to win against the Netherlands,'' Vahle looks back.
Hendriks also found it an striking interview. ''I did find it honest, but I think this: you’ve done everything here in the Netherlands. You can see in everything that he’s really Dutch. So it’s a bit strange that you find it so important to win against the Netherlands. You always have to be motivated, but I did find this striking'', says the born resident of Breda.

That’s how Vahle responds. ''Maybe we don’t understand it at all, because it’s his way of thinking, but I expected that he would also say that there was some mixed feeling somewhere,'' says the reporter, to which Hendriks replies: ''He had his entire education in the Netherlands. Of course you want to win, but I also expected him to show some compassion with the fact that the Netherlands has been eliminated. I found that strange. That’s his right and I’m not losing sleep over it, but I did find it odd.''

"Zó gemotiveerd om te winnen van Nederland" ja logisch toch... op het veld maakt afkomst niet uit. Ik snap de verbazing niet, maar ik vind die "compassie" best gek gekozen als maatstaf.
This whole "why is he so motivated to beat NL" thing is so weird to me. He chose Marocco, so of course he wants to win. 🔥
tbh die Ziggo-meiden snappen het gewoon niet. Salah-Eddine wil gewoon winnen, klaar. Dat hij hier opgeleid is zegt niets over compassie als je een WK-wedstrijd speelt, imo.
