PSV is going after Sven Mijnans again and looks much more promising than a year ago
1 min readPSV, just like a year ago, is aiming its sights at Alkmaar in order to be able to take over Sven Mijnans. A year later, PSV still sees a future in the AZ midfielder, which of course also has to do with the departure of Ismael Saibari.
Multiple media outlets have meanwhile reported that PSV is once again looking to make progress with Mijnans this summer, who a year ago was personally retained in his contract with AZ by Max Huiberts. This summer, Mijnans is supposed to be brought in as a so-called 'top reinforcement'. This is reported by the Eindhovens Dagblad..
As is customary to expect, PSV has strong competition, but Mijnans still seems to be open to a domestic transfer. However, solid payment is still required for Mijnans, because just like a year ago, AZ has dollar signs in its eyes
Last year, PSV already offered about 12 million euros for Mijnans, but at the time AZ was absolutely unwilling to let him go. That also had to do with the multi-million transfer of Ruben van Bommel to PSV. According to De Telegraaf, however, in 2026 AZ is demanding fifteen to seventeen million euros for Mijnans, which would not improve PSV's chances of securing a transfer.

Het Eindhovens Dagblad reports on the situation that, in the back corridors, whispers are circulating about a buyout payment in the contract of the club’s midfielder from Alkmaar, but 'sources' according to the regional newspaper want to disclose nothing about the amount that would be stated in that alleged clause.
Mijnans' contract is nearing its end, but the club from Alkmaar still wants to receive a hefty transfer fee for Mijnans, who played a very good cup final for AZ in April of this year. The 26-year-old left midfielder was signed in the summer of 2023 for €2.5 million from Sparta Rotterdam.
