Moroccan football fan points to PSV championship after World Cup win riots Morocco
1 min readIt may not have escaped many people in the Netherlands that Morocco managed to win twice last week at the 2026 World Cup. Last week on Tuesday night, the Atlas Lions beat the Netherlands national team, and last Saturday Morocco was too strong for co-host Canada with a 0-3 victory.
As a result, the Moroccan national team is in the quarterfinals, in which France will be their opponent. In the Netherlands, Moroccan football supporters “celebrated” the wins over Oranje and Canada by taking to the streets.
In several cities, including The Hague, large riots then broke out. According to Nordin Ghouddani, presenter of Mocro Inside and a fan of Morocco, these riots have nothing at all to do with Moroccans.
''95 percent of the Moroccans who are going to celebrate, are not it. You're talking about a small group, a tiny group'', says Ghouddani in conversation with Bram Moszkowicz in the program Nieuws van de Dag on SBS6.
Therewith, Ghouddani draws a comparison between rioting Moroccan fans and the celebration of PSV winning the national championship. ''Something always happens, but what does that have to do with Moroccans? I mean, when PSV becomes champion, the city gets torn apart. Is that a Moroccan problem?'', the Moroccan football fan wonders.

"95 procent... relt niet" is precies waar het misgaat, mensen nemen dat kleine percentage en doen alsof het de hele groep is. Sowieso: bij PSV hoor je ook vaak knallen en drukte, maar dat is nog geen rel.
i get the comparison tbh. Op zo'n feestweek hoort het erbij, maar rellen zijn natuurlijk geen cultuur, gewoon gedrag van een paar mensen 🤡. Laat ze die link niet meteen maken.
Nordin maakt wel een punt hoor. Het is gewoon een klein groepje dat ontspoort, niet "het volk". En ja, als PSV kampioen wordt, is het ook gewoon chaos in de straten.
