Sergiño Dest, to the round of 16 at the World Cup against Belgium—will Dest be returning to PSV this summer?

Sergiño Dest and Ricardo Pepi are still active with Team USA at the World Cup, which is organized for a large part in their country. The PSV players are preparing for a clash with Belgium in the round of 16 of the global final tournament.

At the press conference prior to the match, Dest looks ahead to the game. ''I think it will be a closely contested match. Fifty-fifty. You have good players, we do too,'' says the PSV player to the Belgian Sporza.

The right-back does not want to tell the Belgian press what their game plan is going to be. ''I’m not going to tell you that here. Otherwise you’ll know our tactics,'' Dest says.

For Pepi, a starting spot seemed imminent as striker Folarin Balogun received an unfortunate red card in the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The FIFA has nevertheless decided that Balogun may still play, meaning the striker is available as usual against the Red Devils.

Last week, Belgium managed in spectacular fashion to qualify for the next round after extra time following a tumultuous finale against Senegal (3-2), and that has not escaped Dest either. ''Right now, we are doing very well in the tournament. Belgium sometimes, but also occasionally a bit less. May the best team win'', the American says. 

Of course, the big question is whether Dest will still return to PSV this summer. There is certainly interest in the defender taken over from FC Barcelona, whom PSV does not want to swap out for just any random European club. FC Bayern, Internazionale and Juventus are being mentioned for Dest, who would also enjoy interest from the Premier League.
