Veerman tipped for Italian clubs: “That might also be the most beautiful match”
1 min readThe chance is present that Joey Veerman, after a strong season this summer, will leave PSV. The midfielder has been playing for PSV since January 2022 and seems to be ripe for a transfer after more than 4.5 years.
However, there is always a heated debate about which club and which competition would be best suited for PSV’s driving force. Last year, Veerman was still close to a move to Brentford FC in the Premier League, and last winter it seemed he was about to be transferred to the Turkish club Fenerbahçe SK.
In the end, both transfers did not go through, which is why the Volendammer is still active at PSV. Veerman himself has also never made a secret of the fact that he would like to leave for abroad at some point.
In the podcast DoneDeal by Voetbalprimeur, various clubs from Serie A are mentioned as a next step for Veerman, including AC Milan. “In the wake of Luka Modric? That might also be the most beautiful matchup, in my opinion. Also because Tijjani Reijnders has done well there,” says Kaj Ramsteijn in DoneDeal.

Co-editor Daniel Peperkamp also names a club from Serie A. ''I had written down Como. Fantastic club, a great project and they are incredibly wealthy. Veerman is basically just pocket money for them. They have a coach who has been one of the best midfielders of the past twenty years, with Cesc Fàbregas, under whom you would probably be very eager to play'', said Peperkamp.
According to Ramsteijn, Como FC would still experience a lot of inconvenience from a possible transfer of the midfielder. ''They are indeed focused on generating money through transfers as well. Veerman therefore doesn’t fit in perfectly there, of course,'' concludes the editor of VoetbalPrimeur.

I don't love the idea of selling him, because he's been such a steady force for PSV. That said, if he finally gets the right step abroad and it's a big fee, it's hard to blame him. Milan or not, Serie A is a quality move.
Como with Cesc Fabregas sounds kind of perfect. The article says they are rich, but if they are not a big seller, then maybe Veerman could fit there better than people think.
If Milan really comes into the picture, that is a huge jump. But I still wonder if PSV fans should be worried, because Veerman is basically their engine.
If Veerman goes to Serie A, AC Milan makes a lot of sense. The Modric quote is funny but also kind of true, that kind of move is special. Reijnders doing well there definitely helps the argument.
Milan would be massive for his profile, and the Modric comparison is a fun one. But I hope PSV gets a real fee, because Veerman has earned it.
