PSV fans crack leader against Go Ahead Eagles: “Get the boys off the field”

1 min read

Despite the fact that PSV has had the league title in the bag for a long time and has nothing left to play for anywhere, Peter Bosz’s team won quite easily on Sunday afternoon with 1-4 away at Go Ahead Eagles. Nevertheless, part of the PSV support is not happy with referee Martin van den Kerkhof.

So the referee decided to not award a penalty to Guus Til despite an intervention by VAR, only to have him sent to the spot in the 25th minute for a light challenge for Go Ahead Eagles. On the social media platform X, fans then speak out in outrage over the referee because of these decisions.

PSV won, so we move on, but

I don't get it at all. First no penalty after the VAR, then we get one for a soft contact in the 25th minute. 1-4 is already enough, but that refereeing just kills the game.

To be fair, light contact can be a penalty if they judge it that way. But the fact VAR intervened on Til and still no call makes the whole decision feel inconsistent. Id rather have one standard than two different ones.

Worrying thing is it was already a comfortable match, so the penalty decision felt like it came out of nowhere. Van den Kerkhof usually isnt this chaotic. Hope PSV keep pushing the league officials about consistency.

Bosz rotated a bit, but still shouldnt mean the referee gets to decide the whole rhythm. No penalty on a VAR check, then a soft one at the other end is exactly why people lose patience.

I love how PSV controlled the game, 1-4 is proper. But that Til incident sounds ridiculous. If VAR looked at it, you cant just ignore it and then call a penalty a few minutes later.
