Wesley Sneijder reacts to a barb from Peter Bosz

1 min read

Peter Bosz did not beat around the bush last week in his criticism of Wesley Sneijder, who last year said that PSV ‘had to do something’, after Bosz’s team in the spring looked like it was going to have the league title slip from its grasp.

Under the leadership of Peter Bosz, PSV managed to turn it around again, but the tone had been set. In Rondo, both men again sat down at the table on Monday evening and Sneijder said that pressure on a coach’s position is inherent to football. In the Rood Wit Podcast, that moment was brought up again: back then, Sneijder said in Rondo that at PSV one ‘had to do something’. Bosz, as a guest on the podcast, said that during the negotiations surrounding his appointment at PSV, he had already indicated that he also wanted to be supported when his football isn’t producing results for a while.

"But well, maybe that's why Sneijder is not employed in football", Bosz said. On Monday evening, Sneijder again sat down with Bosz at the table and explained why he made that statement back then. "It is inherent to football that nine times out of ten the position of the coach comes under pressure. And that I would find very unfortunate. I haven't said that it would be the right choice."

Sneijder, as an analyst, doesn't mince his words but he didn't react agitated when the words of Peter Bosz were put to him again.
