“Arne Slot to PSV could be possible”
1 min readThe future of Arne Slot at Liverpool is a topic of conversation in English media. The head coach of Liverpool is under considerable pressure.
Champions League football seems to be on the cards, but everything is not going according to plan for Slot and his squad. While Manchester City and Arsenal have no intention of sacking the head coach after a less-than-stellar season, that situation in Liverpool seems less certain. In short, a lot of criticism for Arne Slot.
Meanwhile, Slot wishes to bring back former Ajax coach John Heitinga as an assistant coach at Liverpool. His current assistant, Giovanni van Bronckhorst, could instead return to the Netherlands, where Feyenoord is interested.
"Arne Slot would really like to have John Heitinga back", says transfer journalist Mounir Boualin at Transfermind. "Then Giovanni van Bronckhorst has to leave first. He is mentioned in the corridors at Feyenoord; there is also something going on there. If Van Bronckhorst were to go to Feyenoord, then Slot would like to bring Heitinga back. He has indicated that internally at Liverpool."

"What I understood is that Heitinga is a little torn between multiple thoughts, because he still feels some desire to become head coach again. There are also a few clubs that have inquired about him", said Boualin.
"So he’s a bit torn between two thoughts", the transfer journalist continues. "But at Liverpool he was also highly valued, including by the fans. So in the coming period it will definitely be interesting to see which choice he makes in that regard. But that Slot would really like to have him back is absolutely clear."
Recently, Slot was even linked to the transfer function at Ajax, but the former Feyenoord coach has turned down the club from Amsterdam. And the transfer journalist finds something of it there as well. "And he shouldn’t do that either, man", believes Boualin. "He built something so great at Feyenoord. He’s the king of Rotterdam, man. When he walks into Rotterdam, he can eat and drink for free everywhere. If he were ever to go to Ajax, then that whole reputation would be over. PSV might still be possible, but you shouldn’t go to Ajax. He shouldn’t do that, man."

I'm torn on this. Slot dodging Ajax talk makes him look loyal, but transfers and staff moves are always messy. If PSV ends up in the mix later, I'll be excited, but only if it's for a clear footballing reason.
Boualin's "king of Rotterdam" line is funny, but I also get the point. If Van Bronckhorst returns to the Netherlands, PSV and even us fans should watch that chain reaction.
Lol the Boualin quote about 'the king of Rotterdam' is hilarious. Realistically though, PSV could benefit from Feyenoord making weird staff moves, especially if it affects their style. Whether it changes anything on the pitch is the big question.
The part about Giovanni going to Feyenoord and Slot then bringing in Heitinga makes sense. But I hope PSV gets mentioned for the right reasons, not just as the afterthought "maybe". Still, it could be a decent fit in the future.
Honestly I like the idea of Slot wanting Heitinga back, but Liverpool pressure is a whole different beast. If he can't get the right staff or results, the whole plan can fall apart fast.
The part about Heitinga maybe wanting a head coach role sounds spot on. Being an assistant can be great, but some guys always chase the main job. I do wonder if Liverpool can handle that uncertainty.
As a PSV fan I love the drama around Slot, but I just think Liverpool is overthinking. If they want Heitinga back, fine, but results have to come first. Still, Van Bronckhorst going to Feyenoord would be a huge shuffle.
