German journalist reports news about the transfer fee for Ismael Saibari: "Earlier fake news about the PSV bid after the Ajax transfer"
1 min readHe is in fact considered a serious transfer journalist, but at the same time last year in the summer of 2025 he did get it wrong big time by reporting that PSV had still made another multi-million bid for Ko Itakura, who at that moment was already personally in talks with Ajax.
Back then, Florian Plettenberg made a very poor showing with it because PSV had already long since shelved their interest in Itakura at that point. In fact, the club management never dared to invest many millions in the Japanese player, given his future marginal resale value. Last season also clearly showed that Stewart and his scouting team had gotten that right. So last August, Plettenberg effectively spread a portion of outright fake news about PSV and Itakura.
Remarkably, the same journalist now reports that PSV will receive a lower fixed fee for Saibari. The journalist says that Bayern Munich will pay a fixed amount of under fifty million euros for the Moroccan international. Eindhovens Dagblad can’t confirm the news, so we’ll have to wait a little longer for the actual transfer fee.
According to earlier reports from both Germany and the Netherlands, PSV would receive a transfer fee of between 50 and 55 million euros for Saibari. The German outlets Sky and Plettenberg now report that the fixed transfer amount FC Bayern will pay PSV for Saibari will come in below 50 million euros.

According to Sky, Bayern has managed to pay a fixed sum of less than 50 million because Max Eberl, the sporting director of the German top club, has stepped in ahead of the start of the World Cup, moving toward PSV. Perhaps PSV can still reach 55 million euros through bonuses, but there is also uncertainty there. The Eindhovens Dagblad cannot confirm Sky's new reporting about the transfer.
🚨🆕 Ismael Saibari can now be considered a new FC Bayern player. All done and sealed following the successful medical, as revealed last week.

⚠️ Max Eberl managed to negotiate the fixed fee down to below €50m because he and his team moved very early. That is also why Eberl… pic.twitter.com/ZwhyD7KkaF

"Eerder nepnieuw rond PSV-bod na Ajax-transfer"... yeah so i dont trust Sky blindly. Wait for official numbers, then judge.
Less than 50m fixed and only maybe 55m with bonuses... that sounds like PSV selling high only in theory. Stewart and scouting nailed the evaluation, but how do we benefit if the structure caps it?
If Plettenberg weer nepnieuws heeft geloot met Itakura, dan vertrouw ik dit ook niet 100%. Tbh ik wil gewoon die bevestigde bedragen zien, want tussen 50-55 en nu <50 is echt verschil. 😅
That Itakura "nepnieuws" story last summer still stings. Now the same Sky journalist says under 50m for Saibari, and even ED can't confirm, so imo it's not exactly rock-solid.
If Plettenberg again says stuff and it turns out wrong, i can already see PSV fans getting cooked on deadlines. Under 50m for Saibari would be a bit of a joke after the hype.
