PSV defender leaves for city rival
1 min readYouth player Rens Boon makes the switch from PSV to city rival FC Eindhoven. Boon played for the past nine years in PSV’s youth academy and is now therefore making the switch to the city rival.
The defender signs a two-year contract with the blue-and-whites. Boon sees a move to FC Eindhoven as the right step in his further development as a footballer.
The local newspaper describes Boon as a footballer who is ready for the next step in his football career. ''Despite his young age, Rens has already gained experience within the top of youth football. We see in him a player with potential who is ready for the next step in his development. We are pleased that he has chosen to continue his development at FC Eindhoven and we look forward to his contribution to the team,'' technical director Marc Scheepers says in a statement on the FC Eindhoven club website.

Marc Scheepers said he already has experience at the top youth level, but i just hope FC Eindhoven can actually develop him and not waste his momentum. Any idea what his role is there, CB or more of a ball-playing defender? 👀
Crazy how long he was in PSV's academy, 9 years is not a small number. Tbh FC Eindhoven calling it a step up for his development sounds like good PR, but i wonder if PSV just couldnt keep him. 🤔
