PSV loan move possible again: “It hasn’t come to pass yet.”
1 min readThree years ago, midfielder Isaac Babadi made his debut for PSV’s first team under Peter Bosz, and the midfielder started off brilliantly, including with a goal in the Champions League qualifying round against Sturm Graz. Three years later, the situation for Babadi is completely different.
Due to a lack of playing time because of the intense competition in midfield, Babadi this season, just like Tygo Land, was loaned out by PSV. Land was loaned to FC Groningen, while Babadi headed to Antwerp FC.
The stay in Belgium can, at best, be called extremely unfortunate. In the second half of the season, the midfielder was, in fact, more often on the bench than he was starting from kickoff.
PSV-watcher Rik Elfrink therefore also expects that Babadi will be loaned out again next season. ''He barely played for Antwerp. Over the past three months, he hasn't played football. That will be a problem. He will have to be loaned out again'', Elfrink says in the podcast Heet van de Herdgang of Eindhovens Dagblad.
The PSV watcher admits that for Babadi, despite a strong debut, it has still not yet led to a happy marriage with PSV. ''That is quite remarkable. Three years ago he was doing very well. He can really play football well. From all his colleagues you hear: that guy really has ‘it’. But then...It hasn’t come to fruition yet'', said Elfrink.
Babadi still has a contract until 2028 and Elfrink believes Babadi should also look at himself. ''He will have to ask himself, of course. You can never just blame it on clubs. You also have to look at: where did I let it slip myself? Or where do I need to improve myself? If you don’t play at Antwerp at all, then you won’t play at PSV either,'' the journalist concludes.

''Het is er nog niet uitgekomen'' klopt wel, want die Bosz-start tegen Sturm Graz voelde als een belofte. Maar als je bij Antwerp op de bank blijft zitten, dan is het gewoon lastig om door te pakken. Zelfreflectie mag, maar PSV moet ook eerlijk beoordelen of ze hem wel goed klaar hadden voor de volgende stap.
Tbh dit voelt echt als een herhaling van zetten. Als Babadi drie maanden niet gespeeld heeft, is huren gewoon symptoombestrijding. Ik hoop dat PSV dit keer echt gaat sturen op ontwikkeling en speelminuten, niet alleen op "verhuur".
i swear die "Het is er nog niet uitgekomen" is precies het probleem met sommige talenten. Je debuteert knap, doet een doelpunt tegen Sturm Graz en daarna verdwijnt het ritme. Als hij bij Antwerp niet speelt, dan kan je PSV ook niet verwijten, gewoon ego laten vallen en keihard werken voor minuten. 💀
"Hij heeft amper gespeeld bij Antwerp." yeah so why are we surprised he is not magically ready for PSV. If he stays on the bench, the midfield competition will swallow him again. Another loan could be ok, but only if the club is guaranteed consistent starts.
Tbh this reads like the same story: potential on the debut, then suddenly zero minutes. The quote about "Het is er nog niet uitgekomen" fits perfectly, but i also agree with the point about Antwerp not being the only variable.
Babadi started so promising vs Sturm Graz, goal and all... now he cant even get minutes at Antwerp. If he didnt play for 3 months thats just tough. Really hope PSV gives him a plan instead of another loan roulette.
🔥"Hij zal weer uitgeleend moeten worden"... dat klinkt als een vast patroon. Bij PSV krijg je kansen als je fit en in ritme bent, anders ben je weer een optie voor de bank.
Babadi gewoon goed laten draaien bij Antwerp en nu weer back to square one. Tbh concurrentie op het middenveld is heftig, maar als je niet speelt op huurbasis, dan is het voordeel voor PSV ook nul. Waar gaat het mis, zijn timing of zijn keuzes?
Als Elfrink zegt dat hij de afgelopen drie maanden niet eens heeft gevoetbald, dan snap ik die verhuur-logica wel. Maar het is ook zuur, want "Het is er nog niet uitgekomen" is precies het verhaal van zijn ontwikkeling tot nu toe.
Tbh die verhuur aan Antwerp klinkt echt als een mislukking. Elfrink zegt letterlijk dat-ie de afgelopen drie maanden niet eens gevoetbald heeft, dan is het ook logisch dat PSV weer kiest voor uitlenen. Hopelijk pakken ze het volgende stap beter aan, want Babadi kan voetbal echt wel.
ngl dit voelt echt alsof PSV hem te vroeg heeft laten stilstaan. Eerste seizoen met die goal tegen Sturm Graz was echt veelbelovend, maar nu amper minuten en dan verbaasd dat je weer verhuurd wordt...
