Former PSV player is open to leaving again after just a year
1 min readIn the summer of 2023, PSV took Malik Tillman on loan from FC Bayern München. The American midfielder made such an impression in Peter Bosz’s team that the club’s management decided to sign Tillman permanently in the summer of 2024.
Last year as well, the American was an important link for Peter Bosz's team. At the beginning of 2025, Tillman suffered an injury after the cup match against Excelsior (5-4), after which the midfielder was sidelined for two months.
In the end, Tillman was fit again in time so that he could experience the crazy closing stages of the Eredivisie in which PSV managed to secure the league title on the last matchday. It was also the American himself who, during the title match, fired in the relieving 1-3 against Sparta Rotterdam off the post, which meant PSV became league champions at the last moment.
Last summer, Tillman made the switch to Bayer 04 Leverkusen for 35 million euros as a replacement for Florian Wirtz, who made the move to Liverpool FC from Cody Gakpo. After a year, however, it seems Tillman is already set to leave the German club.

According to the sports department of the German outlet BILD, Tillman is looking for a new club since the American is said to be unhappy about his current role within Die Werkself’s squad. The former PSV player was brought to Leverkusen by Erik ten Hag and initially started as a regular in the starting lineup.
After two matches, however, Ten Hag was already sacked again and succeeded by the Dane Kasper Hjulmand. In the final phase of the season, under the Danish coach, Tillman mainly had to make do with a spot on the bench and was allowed, from time to time, to come on as a substitute toward the end of the match.
Because of this, the American appears to want to leave the team from the Ruhr region, and the club from Leverkusen is reportedly willing to receive at least the same amount as they paid for Tillman. Among others, Fulham would be interested in taking over the former PSV player.
