“PSV is open to a longer rental period”
1 min readAt the start of the season, the club management at PSV decided to loan midfielder Tygo Land to FC Groningen for at least one season. Despite a difficult start, the PSV loanee grew over the course of the season into a regular starting player for Dick Lukkien's side.
Lukkien previously said earlier this month that he hoped to be able to call on the PSV midfielder again next season as well. Now, according to the publication Voetbal International, Land has indicated he is open to a longer stay at the Euroborg.
Nevertheless, PSV decides on where the future of their midfielder lies, as VI reports. Earlier, Land indicated that he does not yet know where his future lies.
''I still don't know what I'm going to do then. First I'll return to PSV and from there I'll see how things unfold'', the midfielder said earlier to RTV Noord. ''First we’ll finish this season, then I’ll go on holiday and a decision will be made'', Land added at the time.
Land finished this season with FC Groningen in ninth place in the Eredivisie, which meant De Trots van het Noorden took part in the playoffs for the Conference League qualifying round. The Groningers lost 2-0 to Ajax, causing Lukkien’s team to miss out on European football.

Frenkie Schouten or Sangare, who ever starts, they need to win those second balls. When they lose them, you see our build up get messy fast, and then its just chaos and hope. 🔥
"PSV Inside" keeps talking about intensity, but intensity without end product is just running. The finishing in the box has to be sharper if we want to challenge for the league again. 👀
PSV looked at their best when the fullbacks pushed early and the midfield checked back. But im not convinced the double pivot is doing enough defensively when the press gets bypassed. 💀
So its basically all about the wing overloads and getting the fullback to step in. Nice in theory, but if we dont win the second ball, it turns into pure chaos lol. When i see that happening, i want Bruma or Tillman to get closer to the 10 spot quicker.
Eens. If the striker makes the right runs, the whole team looks 10x better. But if he drops too deep, our chance creation gets stale. 💯
I like the attacking intent, but the fullback balance is worrying me. When they push forward, the space behind gets punished fast in Eredivisie too. Could be a tactical tweak job, fr.
I actually think the biggest difference is that our midfield is protecting the half-spaces better now. Im glad the coach stuck with that shape, because otherwise we would get overrun again. 🤬

If the article is right about PSV pressing higher, thats exactly why we looked so dangerous in transition. 👀 But i still worry about the space behind the fullbacks when the buildup gets slow.
If PSV really wants control, midfield has to be the engine, not just a pass-through. With the way they're setting up, I think they'll struggle against teams that press high, especially if the pivot gets dragged out. 👀
If the plan is to play more through the half-spaces, i need more movement from the 10. Malik Tillman was a bit too static when PSV had the ball, we cant waste those pockets all match.
