No future anymore at PSV: “It is intended that he leaves.”
1 min readLast Saturday, goalkeeper Joël Drommel again served unofficial minutes for PSV in the friendly match against the Polish side Raków Częstochowa. Last season, Drommel was loaned out by PSV to Sparta Rotterdam, and the goalkeeper made an excellent impression in Rotterdam-West.
Despite this, there is a small chance that Drommel still has a future at PSV. This tells PSV watcher Rik Elfrink of Eindhovens Dagblad in the podcast Heet van de Herdgang of the ED.
''There is not yet a club for him, but it is certainly the intention that he will leave. Drommel is, in principle, on the transfer list'', Elfrink says.
The journalist says in this regard that the goalkeeper is still very popular within Peter Bosz's squad. ''Miracles are not out of football, but in principle he just leaves. It's absolutely a nice guy, a very well-liked figure at PSV'', the PSV watcher says.
Despite this, it is the intention that the goalie will say goodbye after five years in Eindhoven. ''No one likes to see him go either. But the intention is that he is going to make a transfer,'' said Elfrink.

5 jaar en dan afscheid nemen in Eindhoven... Dat doet pijn, maar ik vind het wel sportief als ze hem echt een transfergunstige stap geven. Drommel op de bank voelt zonde, dus laat hem maar waar hij minuten maakt. 👏⚽
Wie denkt dat "niemand ziet hem graag gaan" ook maar iets verandert, denkt te naïef. PSV gaat sturen op salaris en toekomstbeeld, gewoon klaar. Als hij nog iets van speeltijd pakt elders, wmb is het een nette exit. 💯
Eens. If "in principle he just moves on", then at least be professional and move him with a real destination. Anything else is just wasted preseason goodwill 🔥
Eens. Drommel heeft z'n waarde al laten zien in Rotterdam, en toch staat hij "in principe" op de transferlijst. Dat is echt jammer, want je kan hem bij een pinch ook missen in wichtige wedstrijden. 🥲
"Het is wel de bedoeling dat hij weggaat" klinkt zo definitief, terwijl hij bij ons nog gewoon goed ligt. Ik ben bang dat we weer een keeper zonder echte speelminuten krijgen als back-up. Rockett ie straks in een ander team wel, dan voelt dit als gemiste kans.
Very popular at PSV, sure. But being "beloved" doesnt stop the board from doing business. If he truly wants minutes, then i cant blame him for leaving, just hope we get a keeper who is ready now, not later. 😅
Dont get me wrong, he was really good at Sparta, and i think Bosz respects him. Still, if PSV puts him on the transfer list in principle, they must be planning a clear pecking order. This friendly minutes thing is not even a guarantee anymore 💀
Dat hij geliefd is bij de groep zegt genoeg, maar PSV wil gewoon doorpakken. Nog geen club, dus waarschijnlijk schuiven ze hem weg zodra er een optie is die past. Hoop dat dit geen "mid" avontuur wordt richting Bank-keeper #2.
"it is the intention that he leaves" is brutal, but on paper PSV needs that next step in GK recruitment and hierarchy. Drommel is a solid presence, still, leaving after five years feels premature unless they already have a replacement lined up.
tbh i feel for him... loved guy, and he even did well on loan at Sparta. But if there is no club yet, PSV cant just keep him hanging around. Feels like a lose-lose.
Tbh ik snap het wel, maar 5 jaar is wel lang. Joël Drommel is geen miskoop, zeker niet gezien die indruk bij Sparta. Als Bosz hem echt zo graag heeft, waarom dan toch die transfer-list? 🤔
I get the vibe, but its mad seeing Drommel clock those minutes and still end up on the transfer list. If Bosz really loves him, how come the plan is "make a transfer" so fast? 👀
