PSV could rule out the transfer: defender heading to Italy

1 min read

In recent months, PSV has been frequently linked to a transfer of the 21-year-old Spanish defender Sergi Dominguez from Dinamo Zagreb. There is a good chance that Dominguez will leave for Lazio Roma.

With that news, the Italian sports newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport comes out. The club from the blue part of Rome wants to do everything it can to bring the Spaniard to the Italian capital.

However, his current employer Dinamo Zagreb is not planning to cooperate with a loan arrangement that includes a mandatory option to buy for the defender, according to the Italian outlet. The team from the Croatian capital wants to sell the defender permanently rather than loan him out.

Despite the alleged interest from PSV, the club again seems to miss out on a defensive transfer target. Earlier, PSV also missed out on Mats Rots, who left FC Twente for Hoffenheim, and Ruud Nijstad, who just extended his contract at the Grolsch Veste.

Also due to the injury of captain Jerdy Schouten and the inconsistency in central defense at PSV, the club is explicitly looking for new defenders. In addition, RC Lens is still very interested in Armando Obispo, which makes new defenders seem like a must for PSV.

If Dinamo want a straight sell, PSV cant just sit and wait with an option-to-buy loan. tbh with our current CB inconsistency, i wouldve preferred an easier deal structure even if it costs a bit more.
