Valentijn Driessen speaks out: “You just have to present him quickly.”

Since Oranje’s elimination from the World Cup in North America and the fact that Ronald Koeman has stepped down as national team coach, the discussion about Koeman’s successor has really taken off. Among others, Peter Bosz and Arne Slot are frequently mentioned, as is Pep Guardiola.

If it were up to Valentijn Driessen, the KNVB would need to act quickly and appoint the dismissed coach of Liverpool as soon as possible. ''Arne Slot says no. He has been approached by everyone and has responded very quickly, so then he could have said no already. He leaves it hanging. In fact, he is available, so you just have to act quickly as the KNVB. You just have to quickly present him'', Driessen says in the Kick-off podcast by De Telegraaf.

According to the journalist, it would be drunken if Slot is not appointed. ''It would be insane if the KNVB does not approach the very best, most suitable Dutch candidate. Then the whole bunch can be thrown out with the bulk waste'', says Driessen about it.

In addition, the reporter calls for a thorough cleaning of the Oranje squad. ''I also think: if you look at Slot’s CV, what he has done at AZ, Feyenoord and Liverpool—he comes in and something happens right away. He puts it in place quickly, and dares to knock people out.
