ESPN analyst points to Bosz: ‘If that had been arranged at the front’

It is still unclear who will become the new head coach of the Netherlands national team after Ronald Koeman announced he would step down following elimination at the World Cup in North America. In recent weeks, among others, the names of Peter Bosz, Arne Slot and Pep Guardiola have been mentioned frequently.

Bosz has in principle already indicated that he will not become a national team coach, as the trainer in February still extended his contract with PSV until mid-2028. As a result, Arne Slot appears to be the main candidate, since Slot has been without a club since his dismissal from Liverpool FC.

The club from Merseyside, according to De Telegraaf, is however willing to cooperate in order to get Slot to become the Oranje national team coach. According to ESPN analyst Bram van Polen, the KNVB should contact Slot as soon as possible.

In addition, Van Polen also points briefly to Peter Bosz. “According to me, Slot has always had the ambition to do that in the future. It just has to come along at the right moment on your path. Just look at that Peter Bosz story. If that had been arranged upfront with Koeman, then Bosz would now have been the new national team coach,” says the analyst in the ESPN program WK Praat.

Afterwards, commentator Vincent Schildkamp joins the discussion and Schildkamp mainly criticizes the long wait from the KNVB. ''We discussed this here five months ago, but it is still incomprehensible that the leadership of the KNVB lets the outcome of the World Cup depend on it. With the argument: we don't want to throw the process into disarray. What they did with the women half a year earlier'', says the commentator.

Also FC Twente watcher Leon ten Voorde has his own opinion about it. “Friends from the world of football sometimes say: the KNVB is the biggest amateur club in the Netherlands. I completely agree with that,” concludes Ten Voorde.
