German competition for PSV in the fight for a replacement for Saibari; will PSV actually spend millions?

This season, Sano played a major role in Dick Schreuder’s stunt squad, which managed to qualify for the Champions League preliminary round. Nevertheless, the midfielder is not in Japan’s World Cup squad. In Nijmegen, they truly think they can receive around €20 million for Sano, whereas PSV believes a sum of presumably around €12 to €14 million.
Both the player and the club would already have been informed about the interest PSV has in Sano. Nevertheless, PSV must also expect strong competition from abroad in the race for the Japanese player. Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart also believes it could go after Sano.
That’s written by PSV watcher Jeroen Kapteijns of De Telegraaf. Sano is seen as a reinforcement due to the upcoming departure of Ismael Saibari and possibly Joey Veerman.
PSV would want an amount of around fifteen million euros to be put on the table. ''With his versatility, Sano is an important piece for PSV in a new squad that is being built. PSV is aiming for a transfer fee of up to 15 million euros. For NEC, it is favorable that, besides PSV, several foreign clubs have also shown interest in Sano and that the player himself is open to a move away from the Eredivisie,'' Kapteijns said.

Eens. Sano speelde weer een hoofdrol bij Schreuder, maar als hij na de CL-voorronde weg wil is dit de ideale timing. 🔥 15 miljoen en dan nog hopen dat NEC niet nog harder gaat rekenen.
i mean, if Sano is open to leaving and he is versatile, i get it. Still, the fact he's not in Japan's WK selection is a yellow flag for me. Hope PSV doesnt chase a panic move after the Saibari/Veerman talk.

Als Schreuder hem als sterkhouder heeft gebruikt en hij is niet eens in Japan WK selectie, dan moet het transferplaatje wel kloppen. Anders is het risico dat het bedrag klopt maar de impact tegenvalt 💀

Knap dat Jeroen Kapteijns zegt dat de speler zelf openstaat. Als Japan hem niet eens meeneemt op WK, betekent dat mogelijk dat PSV nu juist momentum heeft. 👀⚽
PSV koopt niet zomaar een middenvelder, maar wel iemand die veelzijdig kan spelen. als ze echt tot 15m gaan, moet het rendement meteen voelen, anders is het zonde.

PSV wil hem als vervanger voor Saibari en misschien Veerman, maar NEC gaat hem niet goedkoop laten vertrekken, vorig seizoen was het al te duur. Tbh die 15 miljoen is een plafond dat erom vraagt om overboden te worden door een buitenland club.
This is exactly the type of signing we shouldnt overpay for. If NEC are still greedy at 15m, then fair enough, let the Dutch market cool down. But im not convinced Schreuder's "stunt" season alone proves he is starter-level for a CL-aspirant.
If Saibari actually leaves, Sano makes sense, but 15m feels like we are paying too much again. Kodai is good, yet if he is not even in Japan's WK plans then i hope PSV scouts harder than name-value...
15 miljoen voor Kodai Sano klinkt eerlijk gezegd best logisch als Saibari straks weg moet. Alleen als die Japanner echt al "openstaat" maar je nog concurrentie uit het buitenland krijgt, wordt het onderhandelen denk ik tricky. 👀
