Rik Elfrink advocates for longer rental periods: 'That is very positive for all parties'
1 min readAt the start of the season, PSV decided to loan out a few players such as Isaac Babadi and Tygo Land. The latter had a difficult start at FC Groningen, but managed to work his way into the starting lineup as the season went on with the team of Dick Lukkien.
Thanks to the strong development of Land, as opposed to Babadi at Antwerp FC, Lukkien would like to have the midfielder at his disposal once again next season. The PSV talent would also be open to staying longer at De Trots van het Noorden.
According to PSV watcher Rik Elfrink from Eindhovens Dagblad, PSV would do well to loan the talent out for at least another year to FC Groningen. Elfrink says this in the VoetbalPrimeur podcast DoneDeal.
''That seems like a no-brainer. It is very positive for all parties. At PSV, he is not sure about playing time, while at FC Groningen he is. It will have to be seen whether all parties actually want that'', the PSV watcher told VoetbalPrimeur.

Due to the intense competition in the midfield at PSV, Land also does not appear to be eligible for playing time in Peter Bosz's squad at the moment. Over the coming weeks/months, it will most likely become clearer about where the PSV player will be active next season.

I actually like the rotation mentioned, especially if it protects the legs for the next round. But if the striker keeps dropping deep, we must flood the box, otherwise it becomes too easy for the defence. 100%
Brilliant if we control the second balls, but imo we shouldnt be that high when the opponent has a runner behind. Defending transition-wise, thats where PSV always gets twitchy. On the other hand, if Gakpo keeps dragging their centre-backs, we will get chances all day.
"We need more control in midfield" is fair, but then dont wait too long to make changes. If Sangare or Veerman are not taking space, it turns into chaos real quick. 💀
tbh i dont fully trust our buildup when the winger cuts in, it gets too predictable. if the article is right about the gameplan, then i hope they adjust the fullback positioning or we will get punished on the switch. 👀
"We need more intensity in the final third" ok sure but who is gonna do the pressing when the midfield drops? ❤️🔥 I love our idea, tbh, but without work-rate from the 8, it turns into hoping for moments.
If PSV really wants to keep dominating with the same build-up shape, the fullback timing has to be perfect. When they pause half a second too long, it turns into a sideways pass festival and you know it will get punished. Still, if Xavi Simons is on the ball early, this can be a banger.
If PSV keep pressing like that, it forces turnovers high and that is basically how you win these matches. Gut feeling is Bakayoko will be key because he keeps turning defence into attack in one touch. 🔥⚽
