Does Xavi Simons reveal a Spurs transfer? | London interest in former PSV loanee
1 min readLast month, misfortune struck ex-PSV player Xavi Simons. In the matches Wolverhampton Wanderers - Tottenham Hotspur, Simons suffered a serious knee injury, meaning the former PSV loanee will have to miss the World Cup with Oranje.
On the last matchday, without Simons, the Spurs managed to stay put thanks to a 1-0 victory over Everton after a tough season. As a result, the team from North London will also play at the highest level in England next season.
Earlier this week, various media reports came out claiming that Tottenham Hotspur had shown interest in the Brazilian Sávio Moreira de Oliveira, alias Savinho, from Manchester City. Among others, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano and the Brazilian outlet Ge Globo wrote about Spurs’ interest.
Simons played in the 2022/2023 season still alongside the winger at PSV, but the Brazilian failed to make much of an impression at PSV. Nevertheless, Simons is open to a transfer of his former teammate to North London.
On Instagram, Simons has in fact posted a photo in his story showing him together with Savio in a PSV kit, and they celebrate a goal together during a visit to Excelsior. The former PSV player may have accidentally spread news of an upcoming transfer.

Tbh die Simons-story is wel verdacht... Savinho naar Spurs zou echt een stap zijn voor hem, maar ik snap ook dat Tottenham hem kan gebruiken als valse negenachtige vleugel. Hopelijk blijft dit niet bij "interesse" alleen, want City zal wel niet goedkoop doen.
Savinho naar Tottenham zou echt een statement zijn. Alleen ja, als Simons die PSV-story post en ze samen juichen, dan riekt het wel naar iets. Hopelijk blijft Savinho bij PSV, want zijn snelheid en acties waren gewoon matchwinner-achtig.

Als Spurs echt Savinho wil, snap ik de interesse wel. In de quote over Simons zie je gewoon dat die relatie met PSV nog warm is, en zo'n story met PSV-tenue is wel heel opvallend. 👀
Tbh Savinho is bij City meer een wissel dan een vaste man, dus logisch dat Tottenham wil shoppen. Alleen PSV haalt nu veel te veel kansen uit zulke 'hint'-stories, terwijl City en Spurs natuurlijk ook gewoon rustig kunnen onderhandelen. Ik wacht liever op bevestiging dan op hype.
Knieblessure voor Simons en dan meteen Spurs-gekkigheid. Echt zuur dat hij met Oranje het WK moet missen. Maar die Instagram-story met Savinho in PSV-tenue... dat voelt niet toevallig 👀
