The last 5 matches for Ibiza | Valentijn Driessen says a few things about what he thinks of it

1 min read

He is certainly never too reluctant to revisit earlier statements. And so Valentijn Driessen did not shy away from it this week in the De Telegraaf podcast Kick-off.

Driessen admitted that he had enjoyed PSV after winning the league title. A weekend in Ibiza was on the agenda, but Driessen actually wanted nothing to do with that a few days before the party weekend. 'That can't be right, that's competition manipulation by PSV,' the critic shouted again and again. However, there were still five matches to be played. 13 out of 5 is the result after the Ibiza trip. And so the journalist from De Telegraaf is full of compliments.

Driessen gives his compliments in the podcast for everything and everyone at PSV. In particular, the desire to win and the intensity that was shown in the five matches after winning the title could really impress Driessen.

“I was a bit wary of that PSV, they were champions. Then they said, in the last five matches they want to give it everything. And then I saw Guus looking with a face like thunder after that 2-2 against Ajax, in the very last minute, deep into stoppage time.

'But they did keep their word in the way they yesterday, certainly in the second half, where they simply played Twente off the pitch. That big Twente, which was also lifted enormously on the saddle over the past week. Twente had a very good run, but at a Dutch level. Qualitatively, it was all not that good. PSV has made that very clear, that they are simply truly the very best team in the Netherlands,' Driessen points to the 5-1 victory over the poor Tukkers.

'I found it admirable that they kept going at full speed right up until the last minute of the competition. And that Saibari got some playing time again. Veerman got playing time; well done by PSV. I really enjoyed it,' concludes the journalist from De Telegraaf.
