PSV is thinking of a beloved late supporter

1 min read

Earlier this week, it came to light that actor Cees Geel, at the age of 61, has suddenly died of a cardiac arrest. In addition to being an actor, Geel was also a great supporter of PSV.

The deceased actor was also often seen at PSV matches and, via social media, the club has said it was devastated by his death. ''With deep sorrow, we learned of the passing of Cees Geel. In addition to his successful acting career, he was a passionate supporter. We wish his family, friends and everyone who loved him great strength in this loss'', PSV posted on the X platform.

In the 1990s, Geel experienced his breakthrough as an actor with, among other roles, parts in television series such as Flodder and Baantjer. At the beginning of this century, Geel also appeared, among other things, in the film 06/05 which is about the murder of politician Pim Fortuyn in 2002, directed by Theo van Gogh.

In addition, the actor was also seen in the television series Flikken Rotterdam. The recordings of the last season of that series had only just recently been completed.

In addition to his acting work, Geel was also a well-known voice-over artist on television. For example, he was the voice-over for the PSV fan program De slechtste chauffeur van Nederland and reality series De Verhulstjes.

"Met verdriet hebben we kennisgenomen" ... yeah, that wording is spot on. He also worked on De slechtste chauffeur and De Verhulstjes as a voice, so his presence was everywhere.

Not even an Ajax fan but damn, this is sad. PSV fans clearly loved him, and it shows in how they react. Respect for his family and friends.

RIP.

Flodder and Baantjer to PSV terraces, what a combo. If you grew up with Dutch TV, Cees was one of those familiar faces. Honestly, this feels personal. 🤬

Did not expect this at all... 61 is way too young. Im mostly remembering him being around the stadium and still seeing him pop up on socials. 💔

That X message from PSV hit hard, "fervent supporter" is an understatement. He was part of the matchday vibe for years. Heartbreaking, condolences.

RIP Cees Geel, echt geraakt. ❤️⚽
