Will PSV push ahead for an FC Twente player? “Negotiations can begin if they let us win.”
1 min readPSV and FC Twente cross paths next Sunday at the Philips Stadium in the final league match of the 2026-2027 season. The club from Enschede faces a very important match because Champions League football can be secured.
Or rather, the preliminary round of the Champions League in the last season in which the Eredivisie still has three spots for the Champions League. Next season, for now, it will be over and the Eredivisie will be allowed to go after Portugal again.
As mentioned, a very important match for FC Twente, but individually also for Mats Rots, because the defender of FC Twente would be of interest to PSV. The fans of FC Twente see it going best on their side: a million-euro transfer of Rots to PSV, but then with an enormous transfer fee. Last week, FC Twente felt at least prompted to make a statement in response to the rumors.
And so a statement from Enschede, via the household paper. 'PSV has not contacted FC Twente regarding the services of Mats Rots', FC Twente confirmed to the regional newspaper Tubantia. Earlier, the Eindhoven Daily Journal also denied rumors about a possible transfer of Rots to Eindhoven.

From FC Twente there is a clear response when Tubantia asks for information about a possible meeting between Rots and PSV coach Peter Bosz. According to Eindhovens Dagblad, it was impossible that Rots had already spoken with Bosz and that communication first would have to take place with technical director Earnest Stewart.
'No club has yet come forward for a player of ours,' the Twente supporters told Tubantia. Still, something could change quickly, the newspaper from the east states. 'It doesn't mean that nothing will happen in the coming weeks.' On X, the supposed interest of PSV appeared to be very much alive among the Twente fans. 'Negotiations can begin if they let us win,' a fan of the Twente supporters suggested, referring to the match next Sunday between PSV and FC Twente.
PSV wil Mats Rots overnemen van Twente nu het er niet uit lijkt te komen met Salah Eddine.

Let the pressing start earlier, no more waiting for the other team to settle. If Donyell and Bakayoko get their timing right, this could be a 2-0 or 3-1 kind of night... 🔥⚽
I like the intent, but the defensive spacing looked shaky at times. If they are serious about taking the next step, the fullbacks have to manage the cover better when the midfield rotates. 💯
Goal!! 🔥
Im here for the attacking shape, but imo the buildup is a bit predictable. Move the ball quicker to the wings and then go early into the box, thats where it gets dangerous 🔥⚽
klopt dat PSV now looks more stable in possession, but i still feel the build-up is too predictable. They need more third-man runs, especially when Xavi starts dropping to the right channel. 👀
"We need more intensity" sounds right, but i want to see it from the first 15 minutes. Page's positioning has to be better too, because every time he drifts, the midfield gets exposed, ngl.
"Pressing higher" sounds nice, but when it fails it leaves the back line exposed. ngl i love the intensity, still need better timing from the 8s so it doesnt turn into 2v2s.
If PSV keep playing through the middle like in the last matches, theyre gonna get punished by the counter. Guehi still looks shaky under pressure though, PSV need more cover in transition.
If PSV really went with that press trigger up the pitch, that explains the intensity in the second half. Luuksy shouldve been faster with his first touch though, gave away a couple easy transitions.
If PSV play with that high line again, im worried about the transition moments. Veerman and Sangare need to be sharper turning defense into control, otherwise it will be long balls all night.
