Will concrete interest from FC Porto and Leeds United be forthcoming soon regarding PSV?
1 min readAccording to Voetbal International, Mauro Junior is said to be in the interest of FC Porto and Leeds United. The outlet shared the news on Thursday afternoon.
The Brazilian was this season an important link in Peter Bosz’s formation. Initially, Mauro was the controlling midfielder in Bosz’s team after captain Jerdy Schouten was pushed one line back.
Also due to Anass Salah-Eddine's frequent injury problems, Mauro played many matches this season as a left-back, which meant that Paul Wanner increasingly found a place in the team. Now VI reports that the Brazilian has a departure clause in his contract and, partly because of that, is considering leaving.
''He stands at a crossroads'', writes the football magazine. ''A departure clause, contractually laid down. And precisely after such a top season for Mauro, PSV is left with this on its mind. The Eindhoven club would like to keep Mauro, but also prevent the versatile left-footed player from leaving the club for a relatively low fee. The management is therefore holding talks with top-Mauro in the hope of getting the clause fulfilled in the contract.''
Despite the interest of Leeds United, Mauro would rather want to take a step toward South Europe. According to VI, this also has to do with the fact that the versatile footballer is still dreaming of being able to reach the national team of Brazil.
In 2017, Mauro made his debut for PSV’s first team and for the first time it appears that the Brazilian has made a departure wish known. ''And it also seems that PSV’s standout player - actually for the first time since he joined the club - is open to a move like that'', according to Voetbal International.
Now the Eindhovens Dagblad brings the news that PSV wants to increase Mauro’s contract in order to avoid the transfer clause, but that no clubs have come forward yet. ''There is no bid with PSV and no one has come forward to take him over, but there is certainly interest. 'PSV wants to get rid of that clause and increase Mauro’s contract, whereby for the future a new and higher transfer amount must be agreed','' so the ED writes.

Leeds interesse snap ik, maar Porto is echt een ander niveau. Als PSV hem echt wil behouden dan moet je hem nu belonen met perspectief en speelminuten, want hij is al zo belangrijk geworden. Zou Bosz boos worden als ze hem laten gaan?
Opwaarderen van contract om die clausule te omzeilen... dat is slim maar ook lastig, als Mauro al richting Zuid-Europa wil. Br is dromen van Brazilië, snap ik, maar ik wil hem niet kwijt. 👀
ED zegt geen bieding, maar belangstelling zeker. Dus geen paniek, maar wél actie. Als ze de clausule niet neutraliseren, krijg je straks weer dat soort scenario's waar je achteraf spijt van hebt. 👀
als ze hem echt linksback en controleur kunnen gebruiken, dan is het niet alleen een speler, het is tactiek. ik snap dat Porto Zuid-Europa lokt, maar PSG-leeds of wat dan ook, we moeten hem houden. upwaarderen en afspraken voor een nieuw hoger transferbedrag, daar zeg ik ja... zolang het niet te laat is.
Porto lijkt me logischer qua niveau en Zuid-Europa droom, maar ik snap ook PSV's punt. Paul Wanner profiteerde juist doordat Mauro doorgeschoven/omgeschakeld kon spelen. Dat je dan zegt dat je hem liever houdt, is niet meer dan normaal.
"Hij staat op een kruispunt" klinkt precies als een jongen die het zelf ook voelt. Als VI gelijk heeft, dan is die vertrekclausule gewoon de wet. PSV moet nu echt handelen, anders is het weer te laat.
Porto en Leeds vind ik wel logisch, maar tbh Mauro verkopen na zo een seizoen zou pijnlijk zijn. Als Bosz hem als controleur en linksback gebruikt, dan mis je echt kwaliteit en flexibiliteit. 🔥
"Hij staat op een kruispunt" ... lol VI doet alsof het een film is. Geef Mauro gewoon een betere deal en maak die clausule belachelijk duur, want anders is het weer van die ene zomer waarin we onze besters moeten verkopen.
tbh Mauro staat ons hele seizoen echt te dragen, en als Porto of Leeds ineens komen met opties dan voelt het toch als een drama... Hopelijk is dat "kruispunt" geen vertrekwens die we niet kunnen keren. Wel logisch dat PSV eerst probeert die clausule te kopen met contractupgrade, anders is het zonde.
"Hij staat op een kruispunt" klopt wel... na een topseizoen gaat iedereen kijken naar Mauro. Maar als die clausule relatief laag is, dan moet PSV nu echt doorpakken met een salaris- en contractupdate. 🔥
idk of Porto hem nu al moet hebben, maar tbh dit voelt als zijn moment om te cashen. Wel hoop ik dat PSV slim blijft en de clausule gewoon uit handen houdt.
Als Leeds ook daadwerkelijk wil komen, begrijp ik wel dat PSV nu wil verlengen en de clausule weg wil werken. Mauro is echt zo'n sleutelstuk in de setup van Bosz, zowel als controleur als als linksback.
