The Team | PSV makes concrete offer to Paris Saint-Germain player
1 min readFrom Paris news about PSV and interest in a player of Paris Saint-Germain. The French outlet L'Equipe reports that PSV has made an offer for a player of Paris Saint-Germain. PSV would meanwhile have competition from Arsenal and Stuttgart.
It would be about Emmanuel Mbemba, a well-known talent from the newly crowned Champions League winner. PSV and Paris Saint-Germain have already had experiences with each other regarding transfers, because Xavi Simons made the move from Paris Saint-Germain to PSV four years ago, which at the time caused quite a bit of ill feeling within the Paris club.
Hardly a year later, Paris Saint-Germain got Simons back by offering him to earn him through a mind-boggling amount of millions of euros. Paris Saint-Germain’s talent now, at least, has an offer from PSV in hand, reports the authoritative French outlet. According to L'Equipe, the eighteen-year-old defender is also of interest to several clubs from across Europe. Mbemba has an expiring contract in Paris and can therefore be taken over on a free transfer.
Mbemba would be listed in Paris as a great talent. The Paris club would therefore like to keep the young defender, but Mbemba has to date not responded to a contract offer from the Paris club, as L'Equipe reports. A move on a free transfer is in the air.

PSV would have already made him an offer by now. Fellow countryman of Paris Saint-Germain, neighbor Paris FC, the Austrian club Sturm Graz, VfB Stuttgart and Arsenal are all actively pursuing Mbemba.
The Team writes that Arsenal has presented Mbemba with a concrete plan. A long-term contract at Arsenal but with an option to be loaned to another club immediately.

I actually disagree a bit. Against compact sides, not having the winger invert enough is the real issue, not the midfield positioning. If we get better support for the 10, the whole structure looks different.
omg that line about the fullbacks pushing higher... yes please, but only if we keep the pivot covering. Otherwise itll be a counterattack party for whoever we play next 😅👀
The PSV Inside piece saying we need more control in midfield makes sense. If Xavi Simons drops too deep, it leaves space behind him and teams just play through the half-spaces.
I just saw that PSV Inside piece about the pressing triggers, and tbh our best sequences only happen when the midfield steps up together. When one man hesitates, the counter-press turns to jogging. We need that intensity every match, not just in flashes 🔥
