The second transfer of millions seems impossible to stop: “It’s a good time to take a step”

1 min read

Earnie Stewart is facing busy days and weeks ahead. In particular, next week is set to be an important one for the club's technical chief, because Stewart seems to have to oversee a record transfer in good hands.

The multi-million-euro transfer of Ismael Saibari to FC Bayern seems imminent and, moreover, cannot be stopped. The South Germans are negotiating in the coming days with PSV, which has made its asking price for Saibari known. FC Bayern would already have made an offer of 47 to 51 million euros. However, that is not enough, people in Germany have now learned.

However, PSV will also have to take into account a second multi-million transfer this summer. Sergiño Dest’s desire to leave remains standing as straight as an arrow. The defender told this in an interview with De Telegraaf. Dest is currently preparing for the World Cup with the United States and wants to see this summer whether he can 'make a step'. His desire to leave is, incidentally, not new. Earlier, Dest also said that he needs a new challenge, outside the Eredivisie.

"It is not out of the question that I will stay, because I still have another two years left on my contract. But I think it could be a good moment to make a step. I think every player has ambitions. I have been at PSV for three years and we have been champions for three years in a row. I have already played in top competitions and I know that I am not ready yet."

For Dest, first comes the World Cup with his home country, the United States, and there he expects a lot. Although Germany was too strong on Saturday evening with a 2-1 win, Dest can’t wait to get started on the global finals on home soil. "I just want to achieve a bit more, and I know I can. I’m certainly ambitious to take a step up. But I’m not just going to leave. It has to really fit me."

Defending champions in the United States begin the final tournament on June 13 with a match against Paraguay. This is followed by clashes with Australia and Turkey. At the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the United States were eliminated in the round of 16 by the Netherlands team. Oranje was stronger at the time, winning 3-1.

The quote about being 'more patient' makes sense, but patience without quality is just passing sideways. If the fullbacks arent arriving in the box, we will stall again. Still, some of the movement up front looked promising, lets build on it for real.

I like the confidence, but im still worried about the balance when PSV bring extra men forward. against athletic teams, you have to protect the half-spaces or it turns into damage control. 💀

"tempo in the build-up" bro needs to be real tempo, not just passing around. push it forward quicker and we score sooner, no cap. 🚀💯

Eens. if the fullbacks push high, the winger has to track back properly. otherwise its just chaos in behind and we all know who gets punished. 🙄

That quote about "coaching the details" sounds nice, but at some point details means defending transitions. last matches showed too many free lanes through the center, and thats on the system, not luck. 🔥

"PSV Inside" is peak if they talk about the 10-spot properly. We need that guy to connect the lines, not just drift into space and hope. 👀🔥

Van Nistelrooy mentioned the tempo in midfield and i get it, but PSV need the ball moving faster to pin teams back. if the buildup is slow, Zahavi and company wont get enough 1-on-1s.

Bruno? tbh i felt he was a bit too slow on the second phase, especially when the winger cut inside. Give him a touch earlier and he is dangerous, but when the tempo drops he disappears. We need that extra half step from him or it becomes mid.

If we are playing with that high press again, i just hope the back line stays brave in the transition. Sangare looked way better when he could step in front of the pass, not when he had to chase from behind. The tactics were fine, but we cant lose the ball in midfield 30 meters out.

tbh if PSV go with that press again, i hope they do it as a unit and not leave Gakpo isolated. one early mistake and you just invite the counter... ⚽👀
