The next multi-million transfer seems to be on the way: “PSV defender eyes a farewell after two seasons”

1 min read

Only two seasons does he wear the PSV shirt. They turned out to be immediately two very successful seasons because for Ryan Flamingo as well, it holds that he has contributed significantly to the two most recent national titles. "'PSV defender eyes farewell after two seasons'," headlines various media.

Yet it still seems as though Flamingo PSV wants to leave. The defender who is set to make a serious bid for a starting spot next season believes it’s time to take a next step. Flamingo is not yet a player for the Netherlands national team, but still expects to be able to make a step forward this summer. Whether that is wise, we’ll leave in the middle.

Ryan Flamingo thinks that a step up to a bigger competition this summer could be just the right thing, and so there is a form of a send-off wish. This is reported by the Eindhovens Dagblad on Friday evening. A hefty transfer fee will have to be paid in return, because Flamingo represents a considerable transfer value.

Flamingo according to the Eindhoven Dagblad is having a great time at PSV, but sees a transfer as the best option to further develop himself. 'Of course PSV can't just cooperate with that, because he represents a hefty transfer fee,' the regional newspaper reports about the defender taken over from FC Utrecht.

PSV demands a hefty transfer fee for Flamingo. Reportedly, PSV wants to receive an amount well above twenty million euros for the 23-year-old center-back. PSV paid no less than nine million euros to FC Utrecht in the summer of 2024.

No way im buying the idea that we can play this style without the fullbacks overlapping. When the back line stays too narrow, the opponent just sits and kills the cutbacks. Also, can we stop forcing the same inside pass every attack? 🤡

Quote from the article about "creating overloads on the left" makes sense, because Luuk-style runs into space always look dangerous there. But if the winger doesnt commit defenders, it turns into safe sideways passing and youre inviting pressure back.

If PSV really want to keep the ball under pressure, i hope they keep that midfield more compact. Last thing we need is Tillman drifting and Sangare having to cover everything again. 👀

If PSV really moved the press higher as the article says, thats huge. Watching how they cut passing lanes with the front two would explain the tempo from minute one. Still not convinced the midfield cover is solid though, especially when the ball gets switched quick.
