PSV targets the Premier League for defensive reinforcements

1 min read

In the hunt for defensive reinforcements, Earnie Stewart and his team have now turned their attention to the Premier League. This is reported by the Eindhovens Dagblad.

Armando Obispo and Adama Nagalo have meanwhile left, or better said, almost left. And that means defensive reinforcements are needed.

'In terms of transfers, the week at PSV was fairly calm, but on Thursday it suddenly picked up in two situations. Armando Obispo and Adamo Nagalo are going to leave the club, and as a result PSV needs new players for the back line. Who exactly they should be is not yet precisely known. For the left-back position, at least Hugo Bueno (Wolves) and Adam Aznou (Everton) are two of several candidates, it was announced on Friday', reports Eindhovens Dagblad, which also says that the entire PSV squad is looking forward to Ruben van Bommel's return.

Van Bommel is virtually in top shape and is close to match minutes after 10 months of inactivity following his serious knee injury.

🔥🔥🔥 i want the wings to run at their fullbacks from minute 1. If we pin them wide and keep the ball moving, this PSV can look unstoppable. Midfield discipline first though, cant be sloppy.

"Inside PSV" is cool, but i just want results. If the gameplan is about controlling tempo, then stop giving away cheap turnovers near midfield. That is the difference between a good night and a brutal one 😅🔥

"Inside PSV" saying the midfield needs more control is exactly what i felt vs. the bigger sides. Right now it feels like we chase the ball, not the space... and that always costs us. We need more calm from the 6, not more running.

Love the energy from the front, but tbh the pressing triggers looked inconsistent. If we go man-on-man when the fullback is pinned, we need the wingers to jump early, otherwise it becomes late and easy to play through.

That PSV midfield setup felt a bit too safe today, and it showed when we needed a faster pass into the half-spaces. Safer build-up is fine, but we cannot play like we are protecting a 1-0 all match.

If PSV go with that high press again, i just hope Tillman and Lang actually track back. Otherwise it turns into a transition nightmare, and we know teams will punish that.
